i have one girl who will take it plan. And it is gross. I always give doxy with baytril and my doxy is flavored or I give them baytril with some ensure. I am livid my vet was holding out on a bigger strength med. I buy the 136 mg pills now and mix my own I love that as well so much cheaper than getting the bottles and it save me.

Aha! So that's how the magic banana 50mg/ml can exist. It makes sense now (as well as why it separates into a powder and syrup if you don't shake it for a while). I always thought the injectable 50mg was the highest concentration available. Man! Why don't all vets have that? Why should we be stuck with 0.5cc dosages when it can be 0.05cc ... it's so much easier to give.

Is the Baytril that you have pure injectable Baytril or is it diluted with something. It would be very strange for them to just give you the injectable 50mg/ml to give orally. There is a suspension available at 50mg/ml but I've only seen it at the one vet. Usually they take the 50mg/ml stuff and diluted with flavoured syrup.

Is there a label on your bottle. Generally all the meds I get from my vet have a label that gives instructions but also gives the concentration of what is inside the bottle and what it is. Things like 12.5mg/ml or some such. That would be the concentration of the Baytril they gave you.

It could be compounded. I get a suspension that's 100 mg/ml and my rats actually like the taste for the most part.

I buy large bottles of injectable baytril from my vet that are 100 mg/ml.
(Years ago when I had fewer rats, I bought smaller bottles of injectable baytril from my vet that were 50 mg/ml.)
They do not expire for a year or two and last me quite awhile even with such a large number of ratties.

I give it orally, mixed up with strawberry nesquik, a few drops of water & a small amount of baby cereal to thicken it.

It sounds like there are quite a few options available as to the form (pill, compounded, or injectable) and the strength you can get baytril in.
