What Scale Do you Have?

Would you still get an accurate weight if you fit Oscar into a box and just subtracted the box's weight from what the scale reads? Or would a box have to fit perfectly on the scale, not overhanging the edges at all? That's how I've always done it.

If I put him in a box, he would just move way too much and the ready would not be accurate at all.

For my boys that won't hold still I just shut them in there with a few treats, usually in the time it takes them to sit quietly and eat one yogie I can get an accurate weight. The first few times they were a bit "huh? what is this? lemme out!", but after the first few times they've gotten used to it. Does your vet have a scale that he fits? If so you might ask them. Or what about a large dish? I mean like a serving platter type thing, big enough for Oscar. If he would sit quietly on the scale for you, he might sit quietly and still on some sort of dish, especially if it wasn't closed in like a box.

edit: Sorry, I guess none of this really answers your original question of what scale does everyone have. I don't know off the top of my head.

The box won't work becaused its closed, he wont even eat a treat in it. The plate may work ..although he would have to stay right in the middle or the plate would flip on one side. My vet has a scale with a big plate ..too expensive for me ..and I like to have one on hand.

Maybe someone else on here has a bigger scale?

We have a Taylor Classic, bought it at Walmart for $12 :) The base is ok for us, but we use an open top box for our boys :)

I have a boy who was over 750g at one point and the Taylor scale Pitluvs posted with a gift box or something similar on top works perfectly. The one you have should work fine, sounds like you might need a better box to set on top though.

Everyone else is smaller and fit just on the scale while they eat treats. But Oscars 4 feet wont all fit. If I put him in a box, he just tips it over and jumps out ..he wants nothing to do with it.

Then getting a different scale isn't going to help the fact that he won't stay in the box. You are going to run into problems no matter what scale you have.
