So... another topic. lol.

I have three boys. Peanut is the oldest, I think he's a little over 2 (I was unsure of his age when I got him). Almond is the next one, he was 6 weeks old when I bought him April of 2011, so he's about a year and a half and Filbert is around the same age as Almond (I think, again didn't know how old he was when I got him).

So, Almond is doing a bit better since I got him a higher dosage of baytril, but he's still a bit weak sometimes and doesn't seem to have much energy. He doesn't popcorn anymore, which makes me said, cuz he was the only one that did it.
I think I need to get Peanut on baytril cuz he seems to breath funny some days and other days not.

Filbert is probably the healthiest of them all, but he sneezes a lot.

But my main concern is that Almond and Peanut have lost a lot of weight while Filbert is large and (sometimes I fear overweight). I've tried to manage their food intact with Filbert, but he's not really fluctuating. I've also tried Ensure on the other two, but they don't seem to keen on it that much.
I know someone said something about a supplement made for birds?

But also, I was wondering, could the weight loss be connected to being sick? Or just age? Or both?

Filbert next to those two looks like a tub, but seeing others' picture of their rats makes me think he's just a big boy. But that makes me worry all the more that the other two are so thin, I fear they're not getting enough to eat or I need to add something into their diet... I know they're getting on in years, but... I don't want them wasting away. 8(

I have more boys with heart problems than anything. I would have a vet listen to them and see if they hear anything. I only have rats lose weight when they are older and not doing well but rarely for no real reason.

You can soak lab blocks in water or try ensure with baby cereal and baby food too.

Can you weigh them so we can get a better idea of what his weight is. Rats by nature should be slim but it's really hard keeping pet rats slim usually. Some rats do lose weight at around a year and half and this should be a concern. Maybe try observing other symptoms that could indicate that something is not right.
