It's done. Yuki's booked for tomorrow morning for an operation. Dr Gallon's gonna remove one of her incisor, the infection is at the root of her tooth and it's crooked. She's gonna drain her cheek abcess too and clean the whole thing up. Gonna cost me 100$ so it's not bad when you're not a student *cries*.

Gonna do my research on operation on the forum now. *is stressed* :panic:

Yeah if she doesn't give me some, I'll ask for some. I still have Baytril left for maybe 4-5 days. but I'm gonna ask if she doesn't give me some for another 2 weeks.

EDIT : Oh! I have a compulsive barber (Cookie, she has no fur left on her front and back paws) in my Critter Nation. Should I seperate Yuki once she gets operated?

I'd take her to the vet! With an abscess you need to keep it open to heal from the inside out and squirt in saline if it's a large one. I could be wrong but in my experience there shouldn't be much if any bleeding. And it should get smaller, not more invasive. I hope she's still on antibiotics? That's crucial if she is to survive this. Poor kiddo. My hopes & prayers for her.

Yes she is still on Baytril. Her operation occurs tomorrow. I drop her off at 8 am and wait for a call. Like I said, Im gonna ask for more Baytril if she doesn't mention any before leaving. And Pain meds too, should I ask for some?

The vet told me to bring in some food that they're gonna give her when she wakes. But she told me to not bring any water... Is that ok?

Oops. Sorry, I was in the process of editing that cause I freaked out and didn't read all the way to the bottom  But you beat me to it.
I'm hoping that all goes great at the vet's and your girl heals up quick. I know this is a financial hardship for you, bless your heart, I guarantee tho that whatever you might miss out on while you make up for it will seem less necessary when you look at her face and know you saved her than they would seem if you could afford them. And if you didn't do it then every cent you spent on something else would give you no pleasure cause it would make you ask if it was more worth it than spending it on your girl. My most fervent hopes & prayers that all goes well and your girl comes home and heals quick in your arms!

Wouldn't hurt to ask the vet about painkillers, she won't give them if she doesn't think theyre needed or beneficial. Maybe she said don't bring water cause they already have that?? I dunno what that means....

Yes I'm quite thight on my budget as I am a student plus I dont have any support on spending so much on my rats. All the people I know say "They're gonna die soon, don't spend so much on them!! " Sometimes it corrupts my head, I hate it. But I can't ruin myself either. No use spending all my money on my rats if they can't even have a house / appart to live in after cuz I'm broke.

But, at least, I can offer them minimal vet care and a great house and life. I am happy for that. And, the rats I will have when I get a real job are gonna be treated as queens and kings!

I also wanna build my very own rat website when I become a Webmaster. :happydance:

Understood, believe me, I've always seen the vet for injury or a problem that meds could help, but saw many of my girls carry large mammary tumors in their last days. :cry3: . We need our critter company but balancing ratties & budgets is especially hard  I added to my last post - you're quicker than I am... Heartfelt best of luck for you & your girl.

Yuki's back, up and already playing, eating and full of energy!

She has one suture and I made an appointment in 2 weeks for a recheck and to get that suture out.

The vet gave me metacam and baytril. Only costed 113$ with tax for the whole thing. :joy:

But, the people living in the appartment with me are complaining that Yuki stincks and she stinks! Her wound smells very awful but at least it's been cleaned, no more green stuff, no more crooked tooth!

Yeah but her cheek's been cleaned and flushed but the bump is still there and hard, is that normal or is it the darn abcess that just came back? It was already there when I went to get her.
