Ruby used to poop in one corner of the cage but lately she has been pooping near her main sleeping spot and other areas of the cage. I keep moving her poops back down to her old poop corner to encourage her but so far not working. Any suggestions??

I didn't vote because out of all my rats, I'd say 80% are litter trained. The other 20% just couldn't be bothered.
Are you using a litter pan?

mine poop in one spot. The problem is it isnt the spot I want them to go in. I would say the same, half of mine are trained some will only go in the box. I have a few that will go where they want to and when they want to. I keep a few litters boxes in mine depending on the size of the cage and the amount of rats.

I didn't put any litter pans in my CN at first, so I could find out where Alice's "spot" was. Once she had her little area established I put the litter pan from her old cage, with bedding that she was used to from her old cage, into the area. It was dirty bedding, so it had her smell in it, and it would attract her to the spot more. Ever since then she's been really good about the litter box, and once I got Harlow and Dorian they followed her lead. Occasionally there's a rasin out of place, but I just spot-clean once in the morning and once at night, so everything stays purty

I dont have a litter pan because Duchess used to sleep in it. LoL guess I can try it again now...

Mine mostly use their litter pans .... they have several so not one spot
And if they chose a spot to use, it appears to be my responsibility to put a litter pan in thta spot LOL

Mine always go on the bottom shelf in the back corner. Tried a litter pan in that corner...they poop ALL AROUND IT and not a single raisin makes it into the pan lol :emb:

At least they do go in pretty much the same spot each time. They pee EVERYWHERE though, I hate cleaning it

What type of pan do you use? Maybe they don't like how high the sides are, or perhaps it's not big enough. I'm lucky this time around, my girls will use the corner-ferret litter pan, but before them, one of my last groups refused. I had to use a rectangular disposable tin tray.
