I can't believe how he gave me the wrong dosage :emb:

He is the best ratty vet here in Newfoundland, althought he learns as he goes for the most part, because not many people have rats here. So I am a learning experience and he always researches before giving me meds.

If they were overdosed, would'nt at least one of them have shown symptoms?
All nine were treated.
So maybe they wernt overdosed?

I'm pretty sure your vet prescribed it right. We don't know if he dilutes it or anything and it's the liquid Ivermectin made for small animals.
Neurological signs would be head shaking, circling, confusion, loss of balance. But again, you would have seen something by now, it would have been almost immediate.

I checked the bottle.
It says Ivermectin Inj 10%
Diluted to 1mg/ml
Give 0.03 ml per 100 gm body weight once a week for 3 weeks

They did dilute it *whew* A lot of vets use the full strength stuff.

I get .02 cc's per 100 grams (using the .2 mg/kg) but its definitely not overdosing.

Now we all learned something about Ivermectin injectable. :)

Mattie started off with mini-strokes, then a big stroke, partial recovery and then a big stroke that she ended up passing from on Christmas Day. Your rats should be just fine.
