I was just wondering what you guys do to keep your rats toes from being so sharp. I love letting my babies sit on my shoulder but a few of them are very active climbing from one side to the other. I wouldn't mind accept that their toes are so sharp they scratch my neck up so I look like I have a rash. How do I keep their toe nail clipped?

I usually end up trimming them myself. I have a pair of small children's nail clippers and every once in a while get a few toes here and there. Some of my rats are actually good about biting their own nails...but others could care less Lol. They squirm at first, but after a few weeks of getting used to the routine, they accept it (since they seem to realize just letting me do it gets it done faster).

If you're not comfortable with clipping nails yourself, you can try a rock or brick under the water bottle or somewhere they travel often.
