He went into the cage and walked all the way up to the top level. He didn't seem like he was going to settle but I thought I had a good shot since he was on the top level....He heard me coming and leapt out of the door and back under the CN. This morning I can hear him chewing on something that sounds like food and I don't think he got it from the cage! I'm getting depressed...He needs water!!!

Put a bowl of water down then...I always do that for my escapees. I might limit the food, but never the water.

Just got my first bleeding rat bite...grr...not as bad as I thought though. I saw a chewed up crayon so I moved it to see if he was under that part of the dresser and as soon as my finger got a tiny bit under...Chomp!

Now he keeps coming up to the cage and even climbed up to the top, but he's a leaper! Any movements, even my stealthiest tactics...and he's back under the CN. I'm going to have to switch to the have-a-heart this afternoon.
Oh and I will put down water right now! Just never thought he would be out this long

I usually bait my traps with a bottle cap of water (pick up that other bowl) and a crust of bread with a thin smear of PB on it...usually works

Ok, trap is set up! Hoping it works...I tested it a bunch and sometimes its not sensitive enough but other times it went off on its own. I put some smelly canned chicken and a piece of feta cheese in, along with the bottle cap of water. Good idea, thanks!

Good luck! I know I almost had a heart attack last night when Alice was nowhere to be seen, but luckily she isn't a biter so I was able to run in and scoop her up before she could dash off anywhere. Your poor baby just sounds scared, I think the have a heart is a good idea. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Yeah, sounds like he's just scared, so hopefully the 'have a heart' cage works and you can get him back!

Still waiting it out! I was getting worried but I called him and saw his little nose stick out from under the dresser. It would have been very cute if I wasn't so annoyed! :emb:

Oh my! I would keep the food and water in the cage, so he associates the cage with sustenance. He is enjoying his out time WAY too much!

He's baaaaaaaaack!!! First thing he did was run to the waterbottle and now he's happily playing with Barret, who was acting pretty depressed while he was gone and even tried to bite me.

I'm so glad this happened before bedtime, at least something good happened today :bow:

Oh good! Congrats! Indeed make sure you watch it from now on, you might want to think about putting some sort of blockade under the dresser and CN to keep him from being able to get under there. Glad he's back and okay!
