Finley had two little bumps that appeared when he was around 13 weeks old or so. They seems to be a little bite mark. Two bumps same size and ended up going away. Now he is 18 months old. Recently I noticed those bumps were coming back.... Soon it grew into a monster. I watched it for a bit. took him to the vet, he said he would have to surgically remove it. I debated but in the end it was removed.

The vet said ti was deeply attached and he had to take a lot more off then he had thought. He also said the skin damaged part had to go as well. So it may be tighter than it was. I gave him cordelia yesterday to recover with. They are still together today. I think tomorrow I will put them both back in the group. My concerns are if Cash will be sooooooo excited to see his boyfriend that he might hump him more than usual :emb: or since the way this is kinda open and they live with 27 other rats if it needs to scab up another day or two.

He was in a lot of pain yesterday of course but today he is just laying around with his cuddle bug cordy. HE seems ok spirit wise.

Any ideas? I mean i put my neuter boys back in a day or two but the size of this has me wondering LOL I never had a huge incision like this before.

You know yesterday when you said you were waiting to put him back in the cage, I was like 'whew, at least he won't be surprised sexed for a few days!' Hahaha

If it was me, I'd wait maybe another day just to ensure myself that that glue is 'stable'. Especially if he hasn't' really run around, once he starts getting surprised sexed from Cash he'll have to run and use that arm. *shrugs*

wow you said it was big, but I didn't think it was going to be that big. Give him kisses for me and tell Cash to back off and be good for once. :cheeky:

Finley generally just takes it LOL he just sits there and squeaks. He has some spots that he ripped open but my vet said "good luck keeping him off this one" I think because he knows i dont allow stitches. Here the boys rarely get the PICA behavior so it always my girls none of my boys have. He didnt get it the last time when he was neutered so I didnt expect any real picking issues.

It is just huge and he has some open spots.

I am unsure how it was attached. He said deeply attached but he went down to below his rib cage so I am not sure what that all entailed. The boy was miserable yesterday but looking better today. I can imagine why. You cannot move anything with an incision that big and not feel it.

*Winces* Dang, poor Finley got unzippered! Can you imagine if us humans got an incision like that? We wouldn't move around for months!

Speedy healing vibes sent your way!

Sometimes a vet must cut into the muscle to remove a tumour, that is quite painful to the rat after.
Lots of healing vibes for Finley!

He hurt the first night. Yesterday I put him back with his group. He was having out time as usual. He has been eating and doing well so far. His incision looks really good considering how big it was.

Thanks for clarifying that I had no idea what they did to my boy just that they took it off and cut him from head to toe LOL
