Hey, I wasn't sure where to post this.
I'm having trouble with my Super Pet 12oz glass water bottle all of a sudden.
I filled it up the other day and it worked for a little bit, then made this weird "pop pop pop pop" when the ladies would drink from it. I went and checked it out and no water comes out when I press the ball, even all the way in. I tried shaking it a bit, and a ton of bubbles floated up and the spout filled with water, but about 3 minutes later I hear "pop pop pop" again. I smacked it on the butt end (like a ketchup bottle) and it let a little more out, but with the same result. I opened it up and took a look at the mechanisms, but it looks fine to me. It's just not letting out a regular flow.
Anyone else have this problem before? Any solutions/suggestions?
Thanks guys!

I had that problem with me at the beginning.. If I shook it a couple of times when it went dry, it started working completely.. After I washed it thoroughly, all I have to do is flip it over and it works on its own.

I'd email the company, unless it has been little enough time that you could return it to the store and have them deal with the manufacturer.

I had problems with mine, too. :/ I thought, "Oh, this looks sturdy and that little duck inside is so cute and it'll be easy to tell for refils..!" Nope, NADA!

When I went to bed later that night I checked on it and there was no water coming out no matter what I did! So glad the boys had a cheap ALT one as well... Why I love two water bottles instead of one! LOL. So I just took it back to the store.

I also find the one we have at work falls apart easy... It's hard to get it untwisted and the nozzle/spout(LOL I dont know what it's called) pops out of the cap SO easy, I always think I've busted it, HAHA.

I like my new white/clear ALT water bottle and my edstrom watter buddies :)

It's definitely not as good as I thought it was going to be. Seems like I'm not the only one who's had problems with it.
It's just weird that it worked fine for about 6 months, then suddenly started doing this. Nothing changed in the way I use it either, so I guess it's just defective.
So now my question is:
What is the -best- brand I can buy in terms of longevity, silence, and capacity?
I don't mind spending a little bit of money on it if it will last me through several "generations" of kids.

I hope someone knows the answer to that, because I´d love to hear it!
80% of all water bottles I´ve had(mostly different brands) have not worked at all..

I have always been fond of the lixit glass water bottles, but the ones I've had have not been very big, so they weren't good for larger groups. If they come in a reasonable size, they'd be better

I like the edstrom water buddies. They're designed a bit weird, so Rats have to get used to a 'new' thing, but they dont make any clicking at all. Im finding mine is lasting really well.

I've yet to find a silent water bottle lol. Do you have walmarts? The 2 dollar 8 oz Walmart botlles, and the 4 dollar big 32 oz ones have lasted forever, no leaking, water always comes out, etc. I've had nothing but great experiences.

My superpet glass one I like too, but defective ones are all too common. Mine only ever had the problem once, and it was easily fixed, but I've heard from so many people about them getting stuck. They are my rats fave though, no matter where in the cage it is emptied first. I think they might be easier to push the ball or something?

Oh and times 100 on having more than one! You never know when one could malfunction. I use four, but I have a massive CN, and since the CN has small bars only small nozzled bottles fit without bending the bars so it's 8oz bottles, which go quick with six rats.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into the brands you guys suggested if I can spot them.
I do have a so-so back-up water bottle (a small, slightly leaky one), and they always have a small bowl for washing/water emergencies/etc. The Super Pet is, as you said, their favourite.
And it seems to be working again?
I'm confused. It's so on-off with this thing!

I've got a huge 32 ounce water bottle that works on my CN just fine....

It can be used, but I do not like bending the bars. Only the 8 and some of the 16 oz bottles I've found have small enough nozzles to not bend it. They're pretty sturdy, but it's not unheard of for the bars to break so I try not to bend them at all.

Same, I didn't like bending the bars, either, with my 16oz ALT water bottle. But by chance I noticed they changed their packaging and now had white/clear ones so I bought one of them(cause its easier to see the water level! LOL) and they actually made the nozzle a little smaller so it fits through the half inch barspacing perfectly. I love it, but when I can get another water buddy, it's definitely going! LOL I can't wait until that CLICKLCIKCLICKCLICK will be no more!
