Well its all done now. I have always loved my vet but today she took Frank and I to the back where all the action took place. It was quite a set up she had. There were 3 cat carriers in a row with my carrier at the end. After surgery the little rattie was placed in a carrier that was lined with what looked like brand new towels that were wrapped around hot water bottles. A co-op student was there to make sure each carrier was kept at the proper temperature. Once the rattie was moving, she was to feed and water. When that was successful the rattie was moved to my carrier under a temperature controlled heat lamp where my vet said they would feel most comfortable because it was the closest thing to home. When we arrived 4 of the 6 girls were at home plate. Porcie had just been placed in a newly lined & heated pad and Gaddy was in the other. Poor Gaddy was the 2nd one to have surgery but did not take it well. My little nose bleed girl has some kind of blood disorder. She pulled through the surgery but had started to bleed vaginally so she was still on watch. I had started to second guess her spay and the guilt ran through my body like lightening. I was reassured although a sick little girl it was actually a good thing we did it now. I was sent home with Baytril & Medicam and have been watching them all very closely. Gaddy cannot have any medicam as my vet wants her to eat well & Medicam can cause stomach upset. Also the fact that her liver would have to process it and until we find out what is going on, she feels it is better for her to just ride it out.
Its very hard to watch your little girls in so much pain, but their days can only get brighter. I hope my Gaddy makes it throught the night.
THIS IS SQUEE'S BELLY
YOU CAN SEE GADDY'S BELLY HAS MORE BLOOD THAN THE OTHERS
BUT 9PM AND SHE IS FNALLY EATING HER FIRST MEAL OF THE DAY :joy:
Here's hoping everyone starts to heal up and feel better soon! It's good to have them all done at once so they all feel the same way, no one's all crazy and bouncing and wanting to play rough. Although it was practically impossible to stop my girls from climbing the cage - they just wouldn't slow down!
:hugs: i'm glad they're all home, and safe.
keep us posted on the blood issue with Gaddy though, that's intresting. Poor wee girl, i'm glad she's ok.
:hugs:
What a great setup. You've got a good vet there. Glad the girls are all home now and even Gaddy doing better.
Meticam is not a good idea for any rats with bleeding disorders, it can start them bleeding again.
