OK, so I just got a call from my vet with a quote to spay my little girls. She would like to do it on a Sunday so she can set up a little assembly line to get them in and out faster with no interruptions. She also told me the spays, although majoy surgery, are easier with less complications than neuters. She did a home visit for me last week and feels all the girls are healthy and ready for a spay although she originally said she would do it at 6 months. If I felt uneasy, she said she would wait until December when the last girl is 6 months but that would mean more time passing for my older girls. (guessing they are 10 months) So my questions are....1. what would you do in my shoes? wait or go ahead? 2. what is the average cost of a spay (I have only had neuters done) 3. should I have them all done at once or a few at a time? Appreciate answers as I am starting to panic :panic:

That's it.......I'm going to New Brunswick for spays! :cheeky: Mamarat the $263 is the book price of a spay (my vet just told me that) and she is giving me a discount, my concern was more about age and how many. I highly respect your knowledge and with your reply will go ahead and have them all done at once. My girls are in good hands I just hope I survive it. Thanks

Thank you SQ. I have a portable heater in their room. The bedroom is only 10 x 10 and only has 1 outside wall so it is fairly warm. I was going to set the heater at 72 so it keeps a steady temperature. (Its a good one, goes on and off according to temperature) Do you think this is enough? Any other suggestions, I really appreciate any help people can offer. :sad3:

My youngest is 6months, and I'm wondering if we are waivering on her being too old for the benifits... I'd do them young, and as soon as possiable with your money situation!

Our humane society charges $30 USD each including meds and such at least for rats who were previously adopted from them... idk about outside appt prices for sure tho.

Ok, so we have a date. The big party takes place on Nov 14th. I'm feeling very guilty. Every time I walk in the room and their little faces look at me all happy, all I can think is "Oh Man, don't like me today, I'm planning to split you open" :sad3:
I'll report back closer to the date. Good luck to me and my babies.

Aww... and see, when I have my rats scheduled for a spay I keep telling them that's how much I love them, I'm helping them live better and longer.

My poor girlies I took them in at 9:00am, its 3:10 and I haven't heard anything, I hope everything is going OK :sad3:

She was going to start surgeries right after closing at noon so I figure half an hour to prep and what have you so a start of approximately 1pm. She told me good spays are between 30-45 minutes and if there are complications, could be a hour. Right now she should be on girl 5 with 1 to go. I went to the dog park for 2 hours to keep me busy but now that I'm home, I'm just a mess. Can't be much longer. :sad3:
