So one of my rats has quite snuffley breathing. I got her from a rescue centre and her previous owner had been keeping her in sawdust so I thought keeping her in a cage with fleece would help and thought that it would clear up. Unfortunalty this didnt work and she was still having a hard time breathing so we went to the vets.
The vet listened to her heart and lungs and said that everything sounded fine. She also said that she had dealt with a rat like this before and said it was propably a condition called the snuffles. She also said that this rat had been put on antibiotics that seemed to clear it up but after they were finished the condition would reapper so the owner had found allternitives to help.
The vet told me that a couple drops of olibus oil in her bedding would help ease her but I should also look on the internet for other such things.
I am just wondering if anybody has delt with this before and if there is anything else that I can do the help ease her?
Oh before I forget I was told this is a life time condition. Is this true?
I would be very greatfull for any feed back. Thanks.
