I've had the Silent spinner for about a year. Its claims of being silent are fairly accurate, its very quiet while in use but I don't consider it my go to wheel. It comes with a stand that can be removed and it can be mounted on the side of the cage easily. Its VERY easy to take off and wash and put back and its large enough for my males to use it. I do not like however how all the weight of the rat is put on the one spot at the back and my bigger males actually make the side of my cage bow in when they step in and it tends to bounce a little bit when they are running. It also feels very cheap and I'm constantly afraid of dropping it and shattering it.

Pros:
very easy to take off and clean
Can be mounted to side of cage
Large enough for males
Silent

Cons:
Feels cheap and breakable
Support system for larger rats doesn't seem adequate
Price, retails at $40-$50 most places X.x

I've never seen them as worth the price ($30 here in America) because of how cheaply made they seem. About half come in broken, and it takes nothing to shatter them. The littler ones hold up better, but you can't use them for rats.
But they are quiet.

I just bought one today, so I don't have much to say about it yet, it is also my first wheel. But I can say when my bog boys step into it, It dose not make the side of the cage bow ..and I have pretty big boys, lol ..although I have seen them run in it bc they are afraid of it :giggle: ..but alot of people with big boys perfer this wheel, so I guess they don't have problems with it.

I've definitely experienced the cage bowing from the wheel and the bouncing which can make it noisy. The rats don't even have to be that heavy, my sisters 3 month old boys can get going fast enough in their SS to make the bottom of the wheel smack off of the cage.

On another note you guys pay a lot for the SS, the most expensive one I have seen around here is at Pet Valu for $27.

I've seen them for close to $50 here, although Montreal Critters now carries them for $36.99... and we have higher sales taxes here to boot. I must admit I haven't bought one because the of the cost and the uncertainty as to whether or not my guys will use them. Then again, toys and accessories I bought for my first guys that weren't a hit are huge hits with my current crew, so since I plan on having rats for years to come, I'm sure I would get some use out of it at some point.

I recently got a SS for my 2 girls and it was less than $20 tax included. I guess I'm lucky. My biggest problem with it is my evil girls think it's a potty and it needs to be cleaned way too often, but other than that it's pretty nice.

I've had the same SS for a couple of years with no problems at all. I've always liked that it easily moved between cages with different bar spacings, and is really easy to clean. Quieter than a mesh wheel and typically easier to find than other ones. I am surprised at the difference in cost between areas though!

I've actually got 2 of these since I had to split my double CN at some point - to finally end up with only one runner (my Picolo was very interested when I first put his in, but he was already being hit with rear-end degeneration so he couldn't use it very long). Lily is fairly small, so the wheel works wonders for her - my wheels are mounted on the cage and I did have issues with bouncing lately, but realized yesterday that I had put the support on the side and not on the bottom, as it would be with the stand, so I corrected this yesterday and it is now as quiet as ever. I for sure love those!

They're roughly $10 in an American Petsmart, or less with your Petperks card. When I still shopped there and had my first two boys, I bought one; they never used it. I was always under the impression that boys wouldn't run on wheels; maybe I'll let my current lot give it a whirl, see how they like it...

EDIT: Unless I'm looking at the wrong size. The largest size they have is something like $10.99 + tax.

Yeah that would be the teensy one. I paid 30, although if you don't care about color you can order online in the US for about 20.

IMO, it's not perfect, but the best affordable 12 inch (bigger girls seem a bit cramped in 11 inch ones) wheel I could find. It's reasonably quiet.

My young rats love love love this wheel, the older/bigger ones could care less, they just eat veggies in it :giggle:

I got a comfort wheel and it was broken 3 days later. It's also super loud.
Maybe I just got a bad one, but I hate the thing.
Badger loves running wheels. She's not a huge rat (average female) and when she stands on it, it looks like it's going to crumble into a thousand pieces.

I have found the Silent Spinner to be a lot sturdier and much quieter than the Comfort Wheel so it might be worth looking into.

I concur. The comfort wheels seem too... bendy?

We went to about 3759873592375983 different stores and found no wheels. Petsmart only had the comfort wheel so we gave in and bought it since we weren't even sure if any of the ratties would like it.

We have a silent spinner on order from Flower Town now.

I think you'll be much happier. I hate the comfort wheel, could it be any louder?? Lol. And the part that attaches to the cage got broken trying to attach to the cage..it still works, but pieces shouldn't snap off using it as intended.
