Sendai the rat not the virus! Necropsy results...kinda

Sendai is always scared of me, I pick him up it is a scurry to get free. I picked him up today he has no fight. He has labored breathing I havent heard him sneezing but some of the others were and that is why I put them on meds. I gave him Baytril and Doxy. I also did a neublizer with amiglyde and saline. I am not seeing much change. He is taking short hard breaths with a sinus click, like his lungs are full. He does have a bit of porph around his nose but nothing major

I have lasix, i have dex i am unsure which one if any will help or if i give him a chance to get through this today and later try a dex shot. I know it is hard to tell heart from lungs i also know it is a death wish with a steroid and a bad heart.

The problem is his lungs sound clear. I am not hearing a lot of noise or anything with the stethescope. all i am hearing is what sounds like a human heart beat almost to the same beat. I do not hear the little heart beats that typically are heard with a rat.

He was sneezing nothing major. Very little lately. he was fine yesterday. Right now he is laying on my chest puffy and breathing hard but it seems like an odd hard.

Yes it did. He isn't doing any gasping the noise is nasal and he doesn't have drool. He is alone in a cge while I work he isn't very social anyway. It seems hert which is why I am putting the dex shot off.

Poor guy. I'd give him sugar water for now. When you listen to his lungs, you hear his heart beat? Do you hear a light wooshing with each breath?
I'm so not familiar with heart issues. I wish I could help more.

Kit sent me a video he went to extreme lbor breathing. Then gasping nd he died. He just truned. Yer old on my birthday. I rushed home to give. Dex shot but she called me. Block away he was gone alredy.there was no chest noise I think his hert was bad.

I would only do a necro if I had something I couldnt stop. I know it was his heart his lungs were entirely to clear to be pneumonia. He had clicking in his nose but he had porphrin in it too so I would assume that is why. I listened to his lungs for a long time trying to hear clicking in them, wheezing, crackling, anything. There was nothing. His heart sounded funny but his lungs were clear. He would of responded to the nebulizer treatment if it was his lungs. He didnt. He just went down hill when I left. My daughter took a video and sent it to me and I rushed home to try a dex shot knowing it would most likely kill him if i did it. I got 1 block away and she called me in tears telling me he was gone. I didnt give him the dex shot today after I listened to his heart because I had a feeling it was bad. It would of taken him today If i did it. I am just sad he just turned a year old on 8/23. I had hoped he would of warmed up with me before he got old but I guess I got that today when we cuddled on the couch. I just hope he seen we cared and not that fear he always had with us. Kait was lucky enough to hold him after I left for work and right before his passing. She missed that but I told her it was probably better that she did. She still has a hard time after watching templeton pass that burns in your memory. He may have know that and planned it that way. He was always a loner. My poor boy. So sad to lose him a such a young age and so unexpected.

I remember this had happened so quickly to my Doc. I thought he was chocking on something. It couldn't have been a respiratory illness, gone bad that fast. Besides, when I ratphoned him, I could hear a light swoosh, indicating breath sounds. I had a necro done and it was a burst pulmonary abscess.

I still cant believe it. I had such a odd love for that boy. He was finally starting to come take food from me and We had hopes he would likes us as some point. I had him neutered to and it didnt help him like us at all. I am just sad we lost him as such a young age. I know it wasnt sickness. His lungs were way to clear and I did hear the breathing sounds. I rarely post a problem on here like that but I was so lost and confused.

I dont have issues with rats deaths. His was so sudden and so unexpected that I took him in this morning to have a necropsy done. It is only 60.00 which isnt horrible. I am no having any testing done but I know when he does get in there he will see what took him. I just know something in side is horrible. I should know this afternoon. I am worried that it will tell me there was something I should of done? if that makes sense but I have a feeling there was nothing I could do.
