This morning I was feeding my crew their breakfast and noticed that Rufus seemed confused on where the carrot was when I was handing it to him. So upon furthur inspection I noticed that his left eye was extremely red and he had blood running down the side of his face. So I called the vet immediately and they couldn't get me an appoinment in after work and the vet was already double booked on a couple of appointments so I dropped him off before work. I was really worried about him losing his eye. It was extremely red behind it and was a little messed up looking.

So I just picked him up from the vet and they didn't have to remove his eye but they reprimanded me that he was in a cage of bullies. (he has some superficial wounds on his back) wait I never mentioned he's a hairless lol. Well they said his eye was in tact and maybe it was just bruised. Sent me home with some eye drops neomycin and polymyxin b and sulfates dexamethasone ophthalmic suspension. They did say if it doesn't clear up in a couple of days they will need to remove the eye.

Keep rufus in your thoughts!!

His confusion with the carrot would not mean eye problems so I would be a little more worried that it is in fact neurological.
Hopefully though the meds will clear up any possible infections.

He's not that old. I don't know how old he actually is but I would say under a year or right around that mark. What could cause this and/or what could I do to prevent it?

I think for now, I'd wait it out... and treat as an infection.
