As a lot of you know I have 7 beautiful Dumbo girlies.
Jenny & Myah are huge compared to my other girls past and present.
I know that some of my fellow Rat Shacker's weigh their ratties.
I would like to as well.
I would LOVE to have one like my vet has, but short of stealing one I don't think I could afford it.
What would you recommend?
Thanks!! :cuddle:

I found my digital kitchen scale at walmart for $20. Basic postage scales from an office supply place would work too.

We use a digital kitchen scale. Set a small basket or something on the scale, reset it to zero and plop a rat in it. Usually take the average of the fluctuations as they move around. Typically within an ounce or so of our vet....who uses a very similar method.

I use a postal scale that I bought at Staples. It was about $40. Didn't know there were more affordable options elsewhere. The postal one is nice because it has a big enough pan to put a container of wiggling rat onto. The display notes when there is a stable weight for at least a couple of seconds. typically the rats are moving around in the container and the weight fluctuates a lot until they settle down (or until they leap out of the container!).
