Hi! This account is my boyfriend, he is traveling and im with your's rats.
I saw that one of the rats face is swollen and look out of place.
I dont know what to do because dont know what is happening with "Max". Maybe he fought with other rat, because it has a "spot" blood very lightly on the side of the eye and i need some help =[

PS: Sorry for my poor poor poor english
Thanks.

Alice.

The spot of blood is probably porphyrin which is just their mucus, other than that I have no idea.

Does he have any other symptoms? Is his balance normal? Does he seem to be in pain? Is his fur/coat normal? Will he eat or drink?

Today, the eye seems "back into place." He is sleeping now, but yesterday he ate and drank normally.
Is still swollen on the side of the eye and appears to be painful, because he runs his hand gently.
Anyway, i think he has even fought. :((

Do you have something like Ibuprofen? It's an NSAID so it will help with swelling. If the eye is back to normal, that's very good but if the swelling persists, he'll need a vet.

I think it was just the eye because of swelling, so if the eye is back to normal, it means that the swelling went down a little. I have ibuprofen and give to him, then. = \

Hello! it seems that the swelling decreased, but the eye is getting worse again :(
my boyfriend arrives tonight, then we'll see what we do :'(

tissue =\

That would be what is naturally around a rats eye and the swelling is making it visible. How does the eye itself look? Normal, cloudy, reddish inside, etc? Can you smell near his eye and see if it smells normal or you can smell infection?

Can he close his eye when he blinks?

he cant close his eye when he blinks, but he close when he sleeps.
the eye is swollen in the white and appears to be "normal" as the color., seems to be "normal." I felt the smell of infection, but i will ask my boyfriend to feel when you arrive (my nose is not very good).

If there's infection it's behind the eye most likely and he needs a vet visit and antibiotics. Make sure he blinks and that eye stays moist, as drying out could end up very dangerous. Drying out causes the eye to crack and bacteria to get in.

ok! now, he is sleeping..when he wakes up, i will take care of his "blinks"

thank you!

I return with more news soon
