Rash and scabs

Freyr has been getting itchy scabs.. its been getting worse, and i plan on takeing him to the vet as soon as i get my paycheck, my sister said it looks like its caused by a parasite, but i dont have any pictures at the moment.

He scratches them till they bleed and pulls out small clumps of fur ): looks like ill be treating this before he gets neutered


Anyone have any suggestions as to what it is and what i can do before he gets to see the vet?


I should also mention that it started above his right shoulder and its working its way behind his ear and down his arm.

and thor has nothing, at all, no scabs, no itchyness

And if it turns out to be a paracite, should i be concerned about my cat and dog aswell?

Probably mites/lice. It is normal for one rat to have it while the other is not affected but they both would need to be treated.
Mites/lice are species specific so no worries about your cats and dogs or you.
If you can get Revolution, that would be an easy and quick treatment for the two boys.

is there a specific type of revolution i should buy? and how much should i use?

Unfortunately, it requires a prescription. However, one kitten dosage should be plenty for both your babies!!!!
