Ralphie's abscess- Update: 6/7 - It's time to say goodbye :(

I am so sorry that Ralph hasn't gotten better. I think you are doing what is right by him, despite the extreme difficulty of the decision. It is always so hard to lose a friend, and Ralph is such a special boy and that makes it even harder. (Hugs)

Its frustrating when you've done just about everything you could to save the little guy...it's so sad and I'm so sorry it comes to that

3yrs is a long time for a rattie too, he's an old man and from the sounds of it he's had a great life with you. Whatever happends or whatever you decide we're all here for you and him.

Thank you for the replies, I should have mentioned earlier, hes been on the metacam since we realized it wasn't causing any issues, he was only off of it for 48 hrs and it was helping make him a little more comfortable up until a few days ago, since than he seems in more and more general discomfort

I'm coming to terms slowly though, it seems with every hour that passes he's looking older and older

His abscess smelled so foul this morning and tonight you can almost smell it from a foot away! I don't think any of the abs or combinations are helping at all anymore. And his HE'D has also gotten so bad there is absolutely NO fat/muscle left on his rear end/legs :sad3:

I have some silken tofu and eggs he's been gettinng along with a variety of baby foods, I'm going to make him a gourmet meal tonight and top it off with some melted chocolate

I'm thankful to at least have all night and morning to spend snuggling and spoiling him, thanks again everyone!

Sorry you have to say goodbye to your first baby. It's so difficult to do, but it sounds like you are making the right decision. I hope you have a really wonderful night with him....
