That's worth knowing for sure. I have two friends with Golden Retrievers, who will eat anything in sight. I will warn them. I am sure that one of them said her dog loves grapes.

Laugh if you will, but a forum I was on many moons ago did just that... pics of the best looking raisins. :sick2:

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You obviously have trouble agreeing that any of the raisins you saw could be labeled "best looking" HAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
:laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4::laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4:

Well, best-looking is a bit hard to imagine (was going to say a bit hard to swallow, but that would not have gone down too well.... :) )

Nothing would stop us from having a contest for the photo of the most unusual raisins, the most artistically photographed, .... our imaginations can go wild.

I've seen raisins come out of Basil that must have been, at least, an inch long!!!! :sick2:

despite my camera being a bit crap at taking pics of rats... it's an excellent one for close up images and I have a bit of a collection, particularly of bugs and flowers that I'd like in a nature mag someday... anyway...

In the lakes a couple of years ago I was on a close up photo taking spree and came up with some pretty detailed ones... Now ok ok this is sheep poo and not rat poo, but can we not all appreciate the quality of the picture!!! :D

Gee.... those pellets remind me of bullets I saw, for guns, during the Civil War.....

Soooo, are we having a new photo contest?

If so, I'll dig out the camera.
At least I won't have to worry about blurry shoots ... raisins don't move very fast

LOL. I've got an idea for one...I'm in.

I must remember to ask about grapes and raisins. : x At least to satisfy my curiosity, lol.

grapes and raisins?? You mean where raisins come from and how they are related to grapes?

Raisins are dried red grapes, sultanas are dried white grapes, and currants are dried.. black currants! I think :? :D

mmmm I'm not sure about toxicity... but I hardly give mine raisins anyway... which is really confusing, because despite giving them hardly any, a hell of a lot of them come out the other end!!
:lolsign: My kids haven't liked raisins, but they're not poisonous to ratties, any more than chocolate or avocados are, both of which are favorites.
Apparently wild rats can eat just about anything, what I don't understand is the thinking that our domestic kids are lactose intolerant.

My only guess is that through the intense breeding of pet rats for different colours, their health has suffered... We know it has with the females being prone to mammory tumours and the like etc, but maybe their stomachs have developed to be more fragile?? Wild rats maybe have tougher stomachs as they're constantly eating, i don't know, bugs, rubbish, scraps of anything... and due to a staple diet of balanced seeds/rat mix etc, pet rats have lost that toughness?? No idea really!! :? interesting

Will we exacerbate this (possible) intolerance in future generations by withholding milk products from our kids because it is on the list of NO foods? Will we create a domesticated species that is all truly totally lactose intolerant by avoiding it for all our kids just because some may have a problem?

Yeh, very possible!! I only recently found out they were lactose intolerant, but my girls get little bits of mild cheese, milk in their tea, and they LOVE cottage cheese... they don't have a lot by any means, but it's never caused any health problems, or squishy raisins... hmm I really don't know! Is it only a few rats that seem to be intolerant then?

I have a cow milk allergy so my boys don't see alot of dairy products. They do, however, get my goat and sheep milk products and have no trouble pilfering enough to feed a small army. :D

Actually chocolate isn't good for rats and can cause problems - although dark chocolate is used in very small pieces in emergency situations. I believe you need to be careful not to give avocado near the pit - but I will check on that.

how about carob? My boys don't get any sweets except for when it's their birthday. Then they get a small taste of a dark chocolate chip. :)

Your's truly inhales the rest of the bag. :laugh4:
