Rachel's eye & Isaac

Rachael's eye was bleeding quite a bit. I think that Solomon may have stuck a toe nail in it as he likes to wrestle.
(Edit: The eye is ulcerated, Solomon had nothing to do with it)
Bleeding has stopped but I think the eye is going to need to be removed :sad3:
I called the emergency vet and discussed the situation and meds with him.
Fortunately I have lots of meds here .... Rachel is now on chlorpalm and codeine.
I seperated Racheal and Solomon for the night so she can rest and take it easy .... Solomon likes to wrestle too much.

I had trimed Solomon's toe nails today as yesterday he got into it with Isaac and accidently ripped the side of his face, just barely missing Isaac's eye but slicing through his eye lid. (intro was going well up to that point)
The vet closed it with glue.
Isaac has been scratching at it today, despite the metacam, and now has a bald spot around that eye.

If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.

Edit: Solomon and Rachael were reunited the next morning.
I plan to get Racheal to the vet Monday morning.
The emergency vet on this weekend is good but doesn't normally treat rats.

Is Solomon neutered? Is he a very young boy? It's definitely a fluke accident. I hope it clears up without surgery. You don't have any pictures of it do you?

Just returned from the vet.
Rachel's eye is ulcerated and her scratching at it made it bleed.
I was wrong, Solomon had nothing to do with it.

So ... continuing chlorpalm, switching from codiene to metacam and switching to antibiotic eye drops.
The vet thinks her eye may heal within the next 5 days as he sees signs that it is trying to heal.
If not, then the eye is gone .....

Solomon is a neutered teen.
Solomon is under stress as I had been working on introing Solomon and Rachael (spayed) in with neutered boys Jonah & Danniel (slowed down with that intro).
And have more recently been introing them with Isaac, an older recently neutered boy.
I guess I need to back up a step and take intros slower ....

Gentocin sterile ophthalmic solution. It contains gentamicin.

Hopefully Racheal's eye will heal but regardless, Racheal is doing well and is back to her old active self. :heart:
