Yes, as the Virologist told me (and I was surprised as I didn't know this), by the time we see symptoms of the "virus", the virus has actually started to leave the system, or "shed" itself. The symptoms we see/can treat are purely secondary infections.

ETA, thanks for the replies everyone. :hugs: Appreciate the help very much.

I think we are losing Maggie. :( She is hunched up, struggling to breath. Medicines aren't helping her.

I am so very very sorry...what do you have on hand right now?

We can pick up more fro the vet in the morning, right now all we have are preds and Baytril, a nebuliser and septrin (which is probably no use at all). :sad3:

septra? bactrim?

How is Maggie now?

It also says Bactrim on the bottle - she isn't any better but she's still here, she's taking a lot of fluids by syringe, but she won't eat anything, baby cereals won't tempt her to eat at all. :sad3:

Thank you. :)

Spoken to our vet this morning, I'll pick up more Baytril and Preds soon..... and our vet has researched Doxy recently and thinks it might be worth using. :D

Oh boy... not again.

Sendai is one virus that, by definition, BLOWS.

Any idea how your babies contracted it?

Sending truckloads of healing vibes to you and all your little ones.

Thanks everybody :cuddle:

How is everyone now?

Any improvements?

Maggie is still the most sick, and she can't maintain her body temperature at all now, she's cold to the touch. :sad3:
A few others now seem sick too, not has sick as Maggie, but they're on meds.

Nurse Maggie as much as you can, put her in your shirt for body warmth if possible. She sounds like emily and Emily made it through the other side. Watch out for gasping...not a good sign...

Oh gosh!! I don't know what i would do! Take very good care of them and treat them as much as you can!
Poor little guys whos are already gone RIP! They won't be lonely, they have Pickle and many other ratties over the bridge.
:hugs:

Maggie isn't much better, but she's not any worse, she will cuddle for a bit but then wants to go back home. She's taking her medicine and finally managed to take a big drink from the water bottle.

Olive has heart problems already and now everything gets her really tired, if she eats she has to go and lie down. :(
