I discovered a lump on Ron under his ear. It's rock solid. He is eating, drinking, and playing as normal. To me, it looks exactly like a zymbals. Although, there is nothing coming out of his ear.

Is there anything that can be done? Ronnie is just about 2. I'm wondering if it's worth getting it lanced at the vet (would it be too painful), or if I should just wait until he's in pain and have the vet help him cross over to the bridge.

I believe one of my boys had a ZG tumour. I had it removed but it was no use...it grew back bigger in three weeks (before his stitches even had time to heal), after which I simply had him PTS. :hugs: I'm sorry that wasn't the most positive answer.

Positive/negative doesn't matter. I've just never dealt with it and read that it's almost uncurable. So I will need to have him put to sleep, the question I guess is when? Do I let him go now? Or do I wait until it looks painful for him?

What I had done with Teddy was had it removed and when it grew back so quickly I had him PTS, I just thought about the location and what it would lead to if I left the tumour to grow. I knew it would cause him to not be able to eat, that he'd either start to starve or choke to death so I made the decision. Teddy was still motoring and bright-eyed and chipper but I didn't want to wait it out to have that peroid pass and then have him suffer.

It's up to you and the rate of growth of this tumour.

First you need to take a pic and post it...ZG is in a very recognizable place.
After that you let them live and manage any pain, until its time to have them pts.

Can't find my camera. Here's some photos from my phone. It has grown quite a bit since yesterday. It's causing a head tilt.

I have been noticing over the past few days that Ron's tumour like lump on the side of his face was slowly fading away. It is totally gone now.

Anyone have any ideas as to what it was? It was quite large, and now gone. Strange.

I wonder if it was a cyst as they can be absorbed by the body. Regardless of what is was, this certainly is good news.

This happened to my Lex several years ago. I didn't know about Zymbal's gland tumours back then, only that I knew it was a death sentence for him. But I begged my vet to put him on meds hoping it was just an infection. After a few weeks, it completely disappeared.

I didn't question it...I only celebrated. :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy:

Ronnie came to me from Hamilton ACC two years ago. He had a permanent head tilt. It's still there. The vet and I tried everything, but it has never gone away.
