Hi my rat Rufus started limping around 5 days ago and now his back hind leg is extremely swollen and looks horrible. He’s acting normal tho eating drinking getting excited please someone help me I don’t know what to do.

He needs metacam for pain and to bring the swelling down .... swelling can be very serious as it can cut off the flow of blood to muscles, killing them. http://ratguide.com/meds/nsaids/meloxicam.php

Please take him in to see a good vet knowledgeable about caring for rats ..... usually foot injuries heal ok but it sounds like he may need medical help

Can you post pictures, and a video? it is possible that his leg may be infected .... is there an odor?

You can use infant liquid ibuprofen given every 4-6 hrs. If you have a weight on your boy I can work out a dose for you.
