He's so meticulous with his grooming, he often leans back in my hand so he can make sure those netherbits are perfectly clean. He also continues to clean his tail with much diligence LOL

I'm glad to hear he is still hanging in there, enjoying retirement on the bed...
Does he have a snuggle buddy these days? (Excluding the human...LOL)

Not at the moment...Marsky was pts on Monday, but I am sure I'll get him another. He's met both Simcoe and Dexter but they are big brusque boys and bump him around too much.

My sweet boy had an attack this morning. I got his injection ready, gave it to him, and usually within a minute or 2 of me holding him, stroking him, his panic subsides and he's back to normal within 5 minutes. This time he was not. I told him to hold on, and I changed for work really fast. Then I held him and realized it was Time. It was very quiet as I told him I loved him, and stroked him and he finally took his last breath exactly where he wanted to be. My Lap. For him it was the ultimate in comfort when I was sitting at the computer, and he would crawl under my dinner plate to get there if he had to. When I was lying down he loved to lie on stomach. He had lain on me from 5 am to 7:30 am this morning...so we got it all in.

Goodbye my sweet sweet boy. :sad3:

My heart sank when I saw the new title... I'm so very sorrry. :hugs:

But what a good fight did you fight the two of you. As heartbreaking as this may be, I know he is now at the Bridge, telling all other ratties there how much he loved his human... and getting a wave of approval nods from every rat there that has transited through your house.

RIP little Hermes...

R.I.P. Sweet Hermes.
May the days be bright and endless, as you play with all the friends who went before you. :cuddle:
I am SO sorry Shelagh!!
Without you and your tireless effort he would have lived a much shorter life.
You can see how happy he was in the photo's.
He loved you and it showed.

Oh love, I am so sorry to read this, but what a way to go, ay? I suppose if he could have had his pick... well, he certainly had it. Still though, it's never easy and I'm very sorry you lost another lovely little one.

I'm so sorry for your loss of swet Hermes. He was with you at the end, though, right where he needed to be.

I want to nominate two photos for RPOM: the second tail-washing photo and one of him snuggled sleeping against your hand.
