It should be ok for your young ratties but next time pick up the 6F, it's lower in protein. But, if there's another Harlan run, I'd get in on it.

Thanks, Jo! The 6F formula was not on the shelf. Is this something that must be special ordered?

Any idea when the next Harlan run will be?

Does Elizabeth usually put those together?

the Mazuri 6F is in 50 lb bags, so unless you have a deep freezer? You might want to come by here and I will send you home with say 10 lbs of it instead :)

If you do have a deep freezer you can freeze the blocks up to a year.

The Mazuri 6F is usually in stock all the time at Ren's but its always good to give them a quick call and make sure. They were actually OUT of regular aspen this Sunday.

The Harlan runs are going to be few and far between, since the company decided to up its minimum order to $1000.00 now :(

I do have a deep freezer . . . so no worries in that respect. The babies are approximately 10 to 12 weeks old now, so I can continue with the regular Mazuri for a while yet, right?

Wow! What a shame. Well next time a run is in the works, you can count me in.

Our Gotcha Day is going to be TOMORROW!!! Squeeeeeeee! Only one more sleep! EarlGrey and the DH are upstairs putting the finishing touches on "the abode" right now!!!

Hi there ! I just adopted an older girl last night, (around 2 yrs.) Now that I have done some research - spending hours on this darn machine reading info here and other websites - including some of Debbie Du's. I tried to buy some rat blocks/ better food for her, but don't seem to have much luck in finding anything in low protein, or without corn near the top of the list. My choices are : "Kaytee" - fortified diet. 21% , Cuizine (?) - rodent diet 18%, or "Living world" - Extrusions? 16% (compressed seeds and fruit). That is all I have been able to find in my local pet supply stores. Any suggestions? I am planning on adopting 2 more girls ( 8 mos. old) this weekend, I hope I can quarantine them in the same house... (mabey in 2 separate levels?) These girls are also coming from another house in the same situation as this first girl. Kids with too many animals, and not enough time to give them all the attention they need. If the quarantine and introduction/ joining of the girls works well, I may be interested in the Harlan run. Another ???? someone mentioned Purina makes rodent food too? Is that true? And is it any good ???? Please let me know. I have a friend that works for Purina.

I would go with the Extrusion for Hamsters block. You could find that food at Petsmart and Walmart.

I really didn't like Purina food for my rats, much too high in protein.
