So sorry that you lost your girl. I would suspect cancer. Did you get a confirmed diagnosis?
Ditto that I would have just watched it to see if it would heal...

No diagnosis. BUT I have noticed that the same type of sores are/were appearing on her surviving sisters. Genetic? Their immune systems are shot and attacking their own body maybe?

Oh no... more of the rats appear to have the same thing? Do you think it's going to develop the same as Wispa's did, or do you have a plan of attack at this point?

Its a moot point, as of this morning, there's only 1 Sugah left, and I haven't found a mark on her yet.

I'm so sorry Shelagh, I just read your post on Pez. I suppose when you rescue so many it always feels as if you're losing them. Please give your remaining Sugah an extra scritch for me, & I'm glad to hear she is showing no sign of the tail sores.

Shelagh, I just want you to know, that this thread has encouraged us to take immediate action with our 30 month old boy, Dominic, for a bruise on the base of his tail that turned into an open sore. I doubt we would have thought to add a humidifier to the room, or slather with olive oil, if remembering your story had not made us think about ringtail and look into its causes/treatments. With a little luck and a lotta love, Wispa's story may already be saving rattails. :rathugz:
