Pinky with an abscess...

Today during play time I spied a bump on my oldest boy Pinkys belly about an inch above his male parts...

not long ago i posted about his brother brain with an abscess in the exact same location... I figured this would be treated the same way only when the abscess was squeezed it was not popped but the green puss (not smelly) came out of his penis. we don't have the money for at least two weeks for another vet visit. He was given a dose of baytril this evening.

Has anyone had any kind of experience and/or helpful knowledge? Would love some advice

Was Pinky neutered? just wondering if this could be some residual stiches coming to the surface.. Otherwise is he alone or with buds? an abscess should usually have a cause I think like surgical after-effects or injury from a cagemate.. That's not helpful I know, but more info would help us all I think. Yes, I'm going to be hoping all is well with Pinky and he will be in my prayers tonight. :hugs:

Pinky was not neutered. He's the grump of my cage and is usually alone or with his brother. He lives in a dbl FN with 5 other ratties...

When we first tried to intro our first rattie he was extremely aggressive & territorial but has calmed down a lot over the past couple of months. Now he pretty much keeps to himself...

So you're doing warm compresses a couple times a day to see if it proves to be an abscess or cyst or not? guess that's all you can do for now, if it's a tumor a couple weeks won't make any difference. I hope it's something you can squeeze icky stuff out of! Gonna say prayers for Pinky.

Yes, I've been doing the compresses and last night when I squeezed the bump the icky green puss came out of his penis...

At first I wasn't sure thats what was happening but I squeezed it again and it did it again.. i don't understand why its doing that

How old is Pinky? Maybe he had a penis plug and it came out when you squeezed close to there.

Sounds like an infection to me. :|
I don't know much about abcesses but I know that infections can spread and it could have damaged his urethra which is why it would be coming out that way.
I hope he ends up being fine! :'(

I've never heard of an abscess that came out of a penis before. Kinda sounds like a penis plug like mamarat said. We had to deal with this just last night with one of our rescues viewtopic.php?f=21&t=22560&start=15 page 2 close to the bottom shows pics of what he went through. Did it look anything like that?
It was a thick yellow gunk that came out which is what makes up the penis plug stuff.

You definitely need to keep the area clean but if you think there is infection coming out of the penis, he'll need a vet asap.

I'm not sure what this is... His penis wasn't protruding out like that on its own but when the skin was pulled back it was purple underneath but to me it did not look swollen, so i don't think its a penis plug. The bump next to his parts was full and taunt so I squeezed it again and its definitely an abscess. its not emptying directly from the penis but from next to him. I managed to squeeze the puss out and pinky is on a antibiotic... I can't tell if he's screaming at me from pain or not. Pinky is my grouch, he squeaks if you touch him and screams if you hold him too long.
