My rat had her tumor removed about three weeks ago.
I noticed this little pimple like bump just a little future where the tumor use to be.
I'm wondering if it's a tumor again or if it's just a pimple or ingrown hair from where the skin was shaved?
It's under the skin, colorless and kind of hard.

Hmmm it might be another tumor, but it's a bit higher than the first one and harder grrrr.
I'm for sure going to keep an eye on it.

Is your rat male or female?

Males get neutered, females get spayed, that's why I'm a bit confused. Haha.

If she's a female and you spay her when you remove the tumor, then yes the chances of tumors returning are decreased.

Actually, to neuter means to spay (female) or castrate (male). Neuter means having no organs of reproduction.
We just tend to say neuter for males but the term castration is more specific.

Grammar nazi strikes again!!!! :cop:

Neutering is technically the general term, like Joanne says. Kind of like, we call canines "dogs" even though "dog" is only technically correct for maies.

I ended up not getting her neutured since the doctor didn't want to do this operation, but she started bleeding from the vulva a couple of weeks ago sadly.... I called the doctor and he told me to keep her on baytril, I saw the doctor a week ago and he stated she has uterus cancer =( or ovarian cancer. Anyways the bleeding did subside after I gave her antibiotics but last night I noticed she started bleeding again and it's still at it, I'm so worried.

I'm not too sure if he wanted to do that but when I talked about operation he seemed to say he usually only likes to do only one on rats, she had a massive tumor he didn't want to remove the first time either because it was soft, it grew so big I called him back begging him to remove it, I was so scared to lose her, at the moment she is looking very weak, and the blood isn't stopping, her bedding is needing a change and I change it yesterday. Also the thing is the tumor she had removed came back and now it makes he look kind of like testicals.

I'd say thats semantics... not grammar...
I guess that would make me the semantics nazi?

Lol, I don't really know if grammar and semantics fall under the same category, i just felt like being a smart ass.
Thats really interesting, I'd always heard neuter refer only to boys as well.

EDIT: Now i feel bad, I didn't read the whole post before posting my reply...
It seems an inappropriate forum for such a conversation... or joke making...
Sending good vibes to your rattie.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I wonder if a hysterectomy could remove the cancer (or is even done on rats)? I'm guessing, others would know more than me.
For future reference, yes, getting a female spayed (especially younger) will lessen the chances of mammary tumors majorly, I'd beg you do it if you can for your girls health and your peace of mind.. From experience, I've had so many girls with mammary tumors, not one yet who was spayed.
