When I brought in Cookie she was lethargic, I thought I was losing her. She was put on oxygen and sent home with Baytril and Zithro. She was 22 months at the time and lived to 33 months. Good luck with your sweetie.

Petrie was doing better when Dr. Munn checked on her before leaving - seemed to be responding to the treatments and was eating the special food. But she was found passed on in her cage this morning.

Dr. Munn thinks there was a genetic component to it, or a pathogen she was exposed to as a ritten - combine that with a cold and it all just went downhill. The girls will be on antibiotics now. Mom's picking Petrie up this morning.

Thank you all for your well-wishes. I just think it wasn't meant to be.

I am so sorry! Hugs! It is a hard fight when they get that sick. She knows you tried and that means alot.

Sweet Petrie and her Momma. I am so sorry. I don't get to do my Petrie voice anymore. :sad3:

Jo, usually Sam starts with baytril and doxy then changes it up from there. Sam changed Frida's meds to zithromax after baytril/doxy wasn't doing anything at home. It cleared up her vaginal bleeding, and helped with her severe resp.

He's not averse to zithromax in the least especially if you suggest it. He's the one that started me telling everyone about zithro and baytril being such a great combo (cured Soma's pneumonia...even after rescue shots and having to learn sug-q didn't work).

Cera and Ducky are doing just fine - they're on antibiotics, bay/doxy. They were pretty healthy to start with but we don't want to take a chance in case they get an opportunistic infection like Petrie. Right now my sister and mother are taking the very best of care of them - if nothing else, this is showing how much Mom has mellowed, because she was willing to put on a glove and move Ducky a bit in the cage (she was hogging the food). Before she wouldn't have done this for a billion dollars, or if she'd had a metaphorical gun to her head.

I'm not sure I want to write Petrie's memorial until I see her - it seems somehow unreal, still...
