So here's the thing..
I got Nirvana spayed yesterday.
She's on metacam once a day(morning) for 3-5 days.
BUT:
I only got some of the medication in her this morning(don't know how much), and now she's doing the owwie stretches..
What should I do?
Is it okay to give her more metacam, or do I have to wait until morning?(it's 21.00 now).

I don't want her to be in pain, but I really don't know what to do..
She's not stretching often, but sometimes.

Is she eating and drinking? If not, that probably means she is in a lot of pain. Some vets will give the OK for a higher dose of metacam.

If she is eating and drinking and moving around, there is less concern. If she didn't get her full dose this morning, it should be safe to give her some now.

I have had many girls spayed (>20). Two were in bad pain the night of their spay. In one case I was able to get her to the vet for some opiate meds and then she was fine.

You might want to wait for an opinion from one of the more experienced rat owners on the Forum. A few people have had dozens of rats spayed.

I did measure the meds, But she spit some out and swallowed some.. So I don't know how much she actually got.

Godmother:
She is drinking, but not eating much(She haven't eaten much since before the spay, so I'm not sure if it's only the pain).
She is moving around and climbing on me. Right now she's sitting on my shoulder.
Do you know how much I can give her?
I probably CAN call te E - vet, but it is very likely that they don't have a clue..

Without having a reliable vet to guide you, I would err on the side of caution. If she is drinking and able to climb on you, she is probably not feeling terrible discomfort and it would be safer to wait til the morning. Then your challenge is to make sure she gets it all. My rats hate the taste/smell of Metacam. Sometimes the easiest way is to smear it on their mouth so that they have to lick it off. (the clever ones will wipe their face on something, though!) See if you can get her to eat by preparing something liquid-y and tasty, e.g. yogurt or baby cereal or mashed banana.

how much were you told to give her initially and we'll be able to figure out roughly how much she got.
how much does your girl weigh?

Then I will wait unless she gets a lot worse.
If she don't get a lot worse, I'll try to call the regular vet tomorrow, so I'll know what to do if it should happen again.
I usually just use the syringe thing that follows, but she's too clever for it(she wipes her face), and the syringe is too big for her mouth.
I will try to find something to mix it with tho. I hope it works.. How much do you mix it in? I've never really studied how much she eats in one sitting.. I have plenty medication(have some from the boys were neutered that's still good, and got a new bottle today), so I am able to try different things.. As long as she either eat it all or don't touch it tho.. :wallbang:

I guess I forgot to write that.
Her dosage is 0,5ml once a day.
I don't have a stable weight(it don't settle on a number, so it changes everytime she moves), but the last time she was 230ish i think.

It don't tell me much
I have no clue how much she got in her, and she got it around 9 this morning(23.23 now).
I know she didn't get all, but she could have gotten 0,4 or 0,1..
The syringe says 0,5mg/ml and goes up to 10. Her dosage is 5.
Other than that, I don't understand anything

Here is a standard 1 ml syringe...these show you .02 ml and .2 ml (so you can see the difference)

I wonder what the strenght of their Metacam is in Europe. For the stuff we get here, .5ml would be a huge dose.

Does it say anything on the bottle or the box about what amount of Metacam per millilitre?
