Oh okay. :) I just read the back of the bag with all the measurements and wondered if it was supposed to be a supplement. I think it'll have to be - they really don't like it, haha. I'll keep mixing with lab blocks :) Thanks!

My girls eat it but because it is not that tasty they stay skinny that way. They only eat what they have to instead of gorging on it all day long. When I give the blocks they think it is a treat and everyone runs off to eat it real quick.

I'd loooove it if Phoe would fatten up and thus not be able to free range, lol, the other two are large enough they can't get more than their heads through thank goodness.

I guess that leads me to wonder what's the healthiest way to get rats to gain weight?

She maybe just a tiny girl. My Jaz is very slim and slender she is only 287 grams at 19 months. There is no possible way to make her gain weight a healthy way. I just had to modify the FN so she could not get out.

*cringe* I so don't want to resort to that. :( I'll have to play it by ear. So far Phoe's free ranging is much like Cody's - no problems whatsoever. She doesn't seem to have chewed anything, ever. When the babies are adults I'll see if they can get through. If so, I'll submit to the modifying as three free rangers simply is not acceptable.

I just ordered some regal rat in, fed it to the gang last night....
and they LOVE IT
seriously.

maybe i have a bizzare gang of ratties here....

I thought one of their selling points was that the rats wouldn't pig out on the regal rat? hmmm, making it tastier wouldn't really help this...

I'm balancing both right now and they seem to consume all of it. :) Though their first pick is for sure the lab blocks.

My girls seem to really like it too. Keep in mind, Cityrat, it could still be the newness of the food that's getting them excited. Maybe after they've had it for a bit they will be less excited about it.

I recently started useing Oxbow mixed with Extrusion & Martins + Fresh Veggies daily. First they LOVED the oxbow and it was the first thing they ate out of the bowel, now it's the last ..but they will eat it once there is nothing else left in the bowel. I have to purchase mine at a pet store *sigh* ..I just purchased a 40lb bag, once this is gone I will be asking my vet if he can order some for me, they sell oxbow for rabbits down there, so I assume they can get rat oxbow. For a 3lb bag where I buy the food, it costs 16.99 ..for a 4lb bag it costs 74.99.

I keep my oxbow frozen and that seems to make them want to eat it more. I give it to them right out of the freezer. Also when they start to lose interest, I add water to it and that gets them eating it again.
