3 who were spayed at 14m and up had a tumour afterwards.

This is out of how many that were spayed at that age?
Out of 39.
We've had lots of rats come to us at an older age and we've spayed them all. It was always worth it. In some of the girls, they had the start of uterine tumours, infections and ovary tumours as well, they wouldn't have lasted long if they didn't get their spay.

One last pain in the butt question... lol

How many of them had tumours at time of spay?
Or did you already answer and i just missed it? If so... sorry >.<

That's similar to my experience with implants - benign tumours grow slowly and sometimes shrink initially.

I forgot someone in my small essay... Penny was implanted at 24-30 months of age (August of this year) and she's never has a tumour.
Victoria, do you have all your stats for the implants? I'd love to post it on my blog.

I would love it if victoria's stats could be posted on your blog Jo! Even though when I called my vet clinic to ask about it, they said they generally do not recommend implanting older rats. But if I have the money and there is a chance tumors could be reduced in size or amount, I'll do it. I'm willing to try anything to prolong the comfort in my girls' lives. Though I'd leave the more risky options as a last resort considering their health.

At 14m and up, 39 females were spayed. 7 had tumour removals at the time of spay. 3 of them had a recurrence.
