As some of you already know, I have adopted Duke (now known as Deno) from Xio. She picked him up in Moncton and contacted me asking if I'd be interested in adopting him.
He is now living with my mom in Fredericton until Thursday night, where she will bring him to me in Shippagan.

The ad on Kijiji said that he would sometimes get nose bleeds, which we all thought was porph, but while Xio had Deno with her, he actually had two nose bleeds. She said it gushed out at once, and then it stopped. Here is a picture she took:

He was living on pine shavings (pretty sure) and the ad basically said that his cage was cleaned once a month.

Since last night (when my mom picked him up), he hasn't had any nose bleeds or any porph around his nose and his breathing sounds clear to her. These were taken this morning:

I see a bit of porph in this one.

For now, we're not making an appointment to the vet asap.. but we will if he bleeds again.
I do plan on taking him to the vet early next week though.

Could it be that it was from stress with all the moving and traveling in Moncton (while Xio had him for a couple of days and then brought him to Fredericton)?
Could it be from long-term damage from the pine shavings?

Has anyone else experienced this?
Any ideas what could be the causes?

Some more info. First incident he was hanging out on my bf's bed and I noticed he had blood on his nose. I picked him up and tried to get a picture but he was getting agitated so I settled for wiping his nose off. There was quite a bit of blood, not tons and tons but enough that it dripped off and little splatters went onto my arms when he moved/breathed. Then it stopped. He was active both before and after and seemed fine other than the blood. A bit wheezy. He also had some porph on his nose after the blood.

Second time he was on my bed exploring. Blood again, drops on my hands and arms and I managed a picture. I wiped it off again and it stopped within a few seconds. He was fine, exploring, bruxxing and boggling and pancaking before the blood and was fine after it happened.

Personally, I don't know what would cause bleeding like that over time and wheezing.
If he were mine, I would take him in to see Scott as soon as I could get an appointment.

Deno was at the vet this afternoon.

According to my mom, Dr. Scott said that Deno was a very healthy boy and that he didn't find anything wrong with him. He said that his breathing is clear and is nice and fat, haha.
My mom still made him prescribe him some antibiotics under my request.
He gave him a low dose, for two weeks, apparently.
I will know what dose exactly when I get him Thursday.

Dr. Scott also said that he doesn't know why his nose would have bled.

... :/

Mouse (RIP) had nose bleeds 2 or 3 times. We never worked out why but it never really bothered her and nothing more came of it. Hopefully it's nothing.

It was a lot of blood and from one nostril. I'd be surprised if it was just dry air but possible I guess.

I have a sensitive nose, that tends to bleed a lot in the winter, when the heaters are on and the air gets really dry. You would be surprised how much blood can come out of there, depending on if the dry skin was over a vein. Since the vet said he's good to go, and gave him some antibiotics just encase, I'd just keep and eye on him and chalk it up to that so long as it doesn't happen again.
