PHEW looks like she's out of the worst part of it, glad she's doing so much better! Btw i love your black boy pinned on his back, so cute!

You might need the refill of clav because once it is suspended in water it is only supposedly good for 1 week when refrigerated. Baytril is good for 2 weeks if suspended in "tasty" suspension solution.

Maybe call and confirm if they didn't tell you that.

Clav is my favourite. Only one that seems to work around here anymore.
Glad she is feeling better! :)

oh ok I just checked the box for the clavamox, it says its good for 14 days so it's good til the 16th

Jenny what do you do for the loose stools, if your rats get them from the clav. ?
I've been giving Brenna soy yogurt (and everyone else too, they'd freak if she got something and they didn't LOL) but it hasn't helped at all

In fact, there's gotta be more than one rat with softer than normal poop, now that I think of it, there's an awful lot of mushy poop lately  :giggle:

Eww nasty runs, at that at one point but I think it was due to nerves and bad change of diet (quickly changed within 48hrs afterwards). Oxbow did the trick hehe

I have given little bits of unsalted soda crackers. It helped solid things up.

How long has she been on clav for?
I have found its at about the 3 week mark where the runny poops start, and usually by then, if they have been symptom free for at least a week, I will take them off of it. That might not be an option for you though. Try soda crackers, or the pumpkin that Jo suggested (I have heard that that works well too) and see what happens. I have never had complete runny poop, it has always had some solidity to it...

thanks Jenny, I'll try that. I need to get the pumpkin, too, I tried some dry oatmeal though.
Could the yogurt actually be making it worse?

update; copied and pasted from the FB RS:
Let me off this roller coaster please! my poor girl is back to breathing fast with the pounding heart, not as bad as the day her resp issues started, but it's a big step backwards for sure.
I tried the steam in the bathroom and that made things worse, suggestions please? she's on day 10 of baytril and clavamox. Should I see if I can get dex? or do nebs or whatever the vet will give us?

what do you think?

what IS that that she's doing around 0.50 onward with the front paws?!?!

she looks a bit confused to me in this video, esp at the end walking around the perimeter of the cage. that's not normal for her.

I checked on her a little while ago and her fur was spiked up again but she's sleeping, breathing fast, but sleeping.
I hate that I don't know what to do for her beyond what I am doing now.

any and all suggestions welcome.
will be calling the vet tomorrow and want to be prepared.
thanks

She's cleaning her feet *giggle*

She looks really good to me. I wouldn't worry at this time.

I was soooo soo tired yesterday that I literally could not see straight. I looked at the video this morning and I'm like, isn't that adorable....
Someone mentioned the air quality being bad and I'm thinking, yeh it's bad but there's an A/C running in their room all the time

it's an OLD A/C!!!!
:emb:

although I guess even if it was a newer one this might still be an issue.
They can grow mold and stuff- for some reason I had it in my head that air conditioners clean the air...

I put the air purifier in their room and EVERYONE looks better.

er, or is that just because I got a few hours of sleep last night?!?! :giggle:

I think it's time for the momma to relax and take care of herself and not worry quite so much about the little bubbins.
