Okay, so I was playing with Deuce when I found little brown thingies on his fur. Last time I saw those (on Ace) The veterinarian's assistant at Petsmart said they were mites. I just gave Deuce a good bath with Dawn soap, but now I'm worrying. We're adopting his little friend this weekend, and I don't want to expose the little guy to these bugs. I know about the quarantine period for the new one, but I'm worried about him getting bugs when I integrate him into the big cage...

Is there any way to make sure I've gotten rid of the eggs? Or do I just have to bathe the two once a month?

That would be lice, you cannot see mites. I would go get a different opinion and never go back to that vet place if they think you can see mites You need dose of revoloution for kittens for them. What did they give you?

They just told me to bathe him in Dawn dish soap, and change his litter from wood chips to paper and fleece...

And wow, the people at Petsmart must really know nothing about their animals. Thanks, didn't know it was lice!

I honestly dont knwo that will do anything Always freeze anything you bring into the house for the rats it will kill off what could be riding. All bedding litter and so on. Do at least 48 to 72 hours. Revo will stop the lice and the eggs if you can get to a vet that would be ideal.

Thanks so much! I'll ask my dad to drive me to the pet store to buy some Revolution today.

Revolution for kittens, correct?

You won't get Revolution from the pet store, you have to get it from a vet.

Yes kitten or cat revolution, but as victoria said, from the vet.
The amount will depend upon the weight of the rat that is being treated.
You may want to treat the new boy too.
One tube of revolution will treat a lot of rats.

Products sold in pet stores are usually worthless and sometimes they are harmful or even deadly.

How old is your boy?

Okay, I'll look for a vet around here... I can probably just walk to one.

I got Deuce in March, so he's at least three months old, but I don't know how old he was at the time. He's not extremely old yet, probably younger than a year old.
