So he has an upper respiratory infection so she placed him on antibiotics for a month. I hope it makes him better!

Also, How do you give them antibiotics so that they actually take it? He does not seem to like it at all, how do you guys give them to your pets so it's not so gross?

I put mine in baby cereal in a spoon and they just lick it up.

Really? Just a spoonful of the cereal and it mask the taste of the antibiotics?

Whether they take the meds easily depends on the antibiotic. Some of them are very bitter, and you might need to add a bit of honey and banana and olive oil with the cereal. There is actually a whole thread on ways to make rats take their meds -- it's an art form!!

is it ever hard to give them their antibiotics! I don't think he's had very much of what I've tried to give him... I've tried melted peanut butter, yogurt, a little pancake syrup...I'm going to go buy some baby cereal for when I try and give him his antibiotics tonight...I hope it works!!

You could also try syringing it in the side of his mouth.

I've tried that and he doesn't stay still and then when I finally get the syringe in his mouth he moves again and I it goes outside his mouth...Maybe I'm just doing it wrong haha

Baby cereal (with Honey flavouring) did the trick! He took all his meds tonight! Such a relief that I found the trick for Elliott! Success!
