My rat is developing issues... Too soon, man. Way too soon.

I'm so sorry. Unfortunately, once they get to that open mouth breathing there's usually the point of no return. This happened to our Gus and we had to make the same decision. Our boy Tobi had cancer that spread to his lungs too just like your guy...all the abs in the world weren't helping him, then x-rays were taken :-\.

It's really hard, especially if you've just lost another rat recently, but c'est la vie. They definitely seemed to have a good life with you and you were a great owner, and that's all there is to it. It would have happened in any home he was at, and I'm sure it was better that he was with you rather than a snotty 5 year old who's parents would just have put him outside or let him suffer it out.

RIP little guy.

:yeah:
You did the right thing - there was no saving him...
Sorry about your losses...

I'm so sorry larch, it's just NOT FAIR all to be a good mom and have kid-troubles you can't heal even when you give your all every-which-way, nor such heartbreak so soon.. You couldn't help their bodies much as you tried, but you made sure their hearts & spirits were healthy & happy. For you that can never be enough, but for them it was, I'm sure.
My heart sure grieves for you. I'm so so sorry.
Send your mom some comfort Sucksuck & Ketchup, let her know the too-little time you had together was time worth living here.

Thank you. It means so much to me :sad3:
I am doing much better this time around, I'm not as sad, though I miss them like hell.

Every time I come home and walk into my room, I'm so excited and I expect to hear some bustling of (also) excited rats knowing I'm home. Then I open my door and there's nothing. I make a pouty lip face every time.

But I may be able to foster sometime after X-mas, so I'll have that noise again!
