Making a Harlan run in December - who's in?

Since Harlan Teklad is increasing their minimum order amount from $100 to $500 I want to get an order in.

Anyone in the GTA (& north to Barrie) who is interested let me know so I can get some kind of provisional list together.

Bear in mind that I will add a small delivery/pick up fee to the actual cost of the food.
The amount will depend on if I am able to use my car or if I have to rent a vehicle.

I don't know when I'll be doing this, but at some point my older boys will be going to the adult formula (2014 I believe it is?). You will be buying the 30lb bags, yes? If possible, I'd like to put in an order for one 2018 and one 2014. You can leave me a PM if you need to know anything else :3

Don't forget the bags of food is good up to 6 months past the milling date. (date on the bag) and up to a year in the freezer.

I'm going to be renting a pick up truck for the day. I have a coupon for 25% off at National so it won't be too expensive. What I plan to do is divide the cost of the rental evenly among the # of bags of food I buy. I think that way it's fair to everyone. OK you'all??

The last time I went there Manuel let me search around the pallets until we found the one with the best date on it. I plan to do that again - we're so lucky that he's such a nice guy! The order I got previously (the one you got from me) had a bad date only because my daughter picked it up for me and I completely forgot to tell her to check the dates. (There's more to the story too - I'll tell you if you want to know.) I felt bad that it happened but there was nothing I could do about it.

It wasn't a problem for me at the time, I have a huge freezer, it's just now, my freezer is still full. But what I'm planning on doing is keeping the new bags outside in a tight container in the cold of winter which will work as good as a freezer.

What is the sterilizable? Is it good or bad.

Ok reading up on Harlan maybe I want 2016 because at Kim's ark it says that 14 is not good for healthy rats. Only protein sensitive and overweight rats which mine aren't.

On the website http://www.teklad.com/globaldiet/g2014s.asp it has for example 2014 and 2014s (sterilizable). I didn't know what the difference was.
Something about an autoclave diet with the sterilizable blocks.

I imagine this applies to lab settings for them to sterilize the foods.

So for the girls who aren't overweight and 10 months and 6 months should I go for 16 or 14?

Personally, I go for 14. I feed all my rats the 14%, from 5 weeks to 43 months. :wink:
