Lia's Persistent Ear Infection...Vet Day 01/05..Gone

Lia is a wee girl who is now an old wee girl and still looks like a baby. She's 241 grams and spunky as all get out but in a soft sweet way. :mrgreen: She has had inner ear infections over and over, I medicate for months, it goes away, I stop and within a couple of months it is back. I have tried lots of different antibiotics but none ever completely cured her. Today she saw Dr. Munn, was gassed down, had her ear cleaned out, flushed, and the pus will be cultured and a sensitivity test done on it to figure out which antibiotic will truly cure my little girl.

Her poor ear...the left has a lot of wax, but the right...blech. :sick2:

So we wait for the lab to get back to me and for now she will be getting baytril IN her ear and her mouth. LOL

Wow what a great ear shot. Poor little thing with all that ear gunk... hopefully soon, you'll get the right stuff to get rid of it once and for all.

wow I wonder if that's what Monte has? He's had an ear infection since Oct of last yr! Meds and cleaning his ear with that special stuff the doc gave us just keeps it at bay so he doesn't get a head tilt but his ear smells like garbage all the time poor guy. Might have to look into getting done what you did to see if there's something more too it.

Hope they figure out what's going on with her ear!

Lia's ear never quite cleared up. Every time someone came over they got Lia's head stuffed under their nose for a sniff. :giggle: I was sure I could still faintly smell her infection. She was on the baytril/baytril combo for over 6 weeks, and her mucky eye never cleared up.

Dr. Munn had mentioned that the next step would be to punch past the ear drum and flush out the infection trapped under there.

This morning I woke up too late to take her in, but emailed Dr Munn that Lia was coming in tomorrow and her history.

I gave her metacam, and eye lube but the eye feels hard and its definitely sore Glaucoma? Tumour or abscess behind the eye (most likely)?

Happy New Year!
So I've had Sam look at your email and he said a drop off tomorrow is fine. He is off but will come in to check Lia. He will call you and let you know what the plan is for treatment.

i think they are...her face is distorted and hard. It almost reminds me of Bronny's cancer in her jaw

Lia was pts this afternoon. I will post more later on when I get home tonight, but she had a poor prognosis and a poorer prognosis and she was in quite a bit of pain now...we discussed all the options but decided this was the best thing that could be done for my little lady. :sad3:
