Almost 0.25cc..
I washed it off as recommended by The Rat Guide.

I'll be sure to use the spoon trick next time! :wallbang:

Now.. does anyone know if vets will sell Revo again without an appointment for stupid people like me who make mistakes? lol

I'm sure they will, just explain what happened. You should probably treat Smokey as soon as possible and then treat them both again in a month. Since they gave you too much, you can keep the extra in the syringe, in a freezer bag in the fridge and it should keep until next month. If they put it in a syringe with no needle, it will likely evaporate in less than a week, so don't ask them to do that.

Or just buy a tube and dispense it out of that yourself. More room for slip ups - those insulin syringes get stuck like that often - I've lost metacam the same way.

It's unlikely the vet will sell her a whole tube, many won't.

This thread reminded me of an article I found when looking for a Revolution dose for mice. http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=we ... 8QZ_0yQgkQ

In a clinical trial, mice infested with
M musculi and M musculinus were treated
with selamectin at either 12 or 24 mg/kg
body weight on 2 occasions with a 30-day
interval. Evaluation of treatment was made
at 15-day intervals following the first treatment
up to Day 90. Thirty days after the
first treatment, efficacy was 98.8% for the
12-mg/kg group and 89.9% for the 24-mg/
kg group. Both treatments were 100% effective
by Day 90.

Wow! I have never given more then the lower dose above but in the future I will be giving 4 mg/Ib instead of 6 mg/Ib.
Very interesting info.
thanks

edit: The low end dose for rats is 6 mg/kg, which is 33% less than 4mg/kg. The article lumps rats and mice into the same category and gives a higher dose than Rat Guide. I just don't understand why people still choose to go with/recommend higher doses when lower ones have been found to work just as well (or better as this study suggests) and carry less risk.

I have issues like that all the time, and usually just call the vet back and explain, and they prepare more for me... You should be able to just go and pick up more. No extra appointment needed.

Hey, they sold me a tube and Smokey got his dose!

Now, about Charlie... He had it on him for like 15 minutes before I gave him a bath... do you think that was enough time for it to absorb and take effect?
Or should I give him another dose in two weeks?

He hasn't showed symptoms so he should be fine with that one dose, right?

It's impossible to say. You should dose them both again just to make sure they don't pass them back and forth.

The dosage absorbs through the skin into the blood stream in minutes. I have had to mass-dose rats with no waiting in between (my own colonies, the Moncton Rat Train of 2008, etc) and it works very quickly. I wouldn't worry. but you have more now so you can redose in 3 weeks if you don't think the scabs are getting better.
