is this my fault? sick girls

without going into the whole long story- I had two rats "visiting" in my apt on Jan 13th for about 5 hrs

I now have two sick older girls- resp issues

Could they have gotten sick from having those two boys here?

Quarantine, for rats you are going to be keeping, involves having them in another airspace for 3 weeks to be sure they aren't carrying anything. Another airspace is not another room in your house, it's another house. So yes, it is very possible. Sorry. =(

You'll never know the answer to that.
It could be the boys brought something in, or it could be the girls became stressed due to the new boy smells in the home, or it could be something that was building up for some time.
But bottom line, it's hard to live in a bubble. Things happen and we deal with them as it happens.

I just want to know for future reference I guess.

I will just be a lot more careful about exposure

I mean, I could have someone visit who was just at the Pet store and carried in one of those deadly viruses, and I wouldn't know because who thinks to ask everyone who comes to their door: have you been anywhere near any rats in the last 3 hrs??

so I know It's not possibly to totally eliminate all risk but if that was a foolish thing to do, I will not be doing it again!

concentrating my efforts of my girls now, anyway but I had to address that possibility to get it off my mind so I *can* concentrate
