You dont need the histopathology. All rats have a risk of death during surgery. I would give her antibiotics and feed her extra ensure and try to give a fighting chance. see if her breathing can clear up. Plus what ever care for the part coming out.

I had almost 25 surgeries this year, one passed, and i believe that was heart related. I would try because without it she is gone anyway.

You don't need the histo done, it only tells you what type of tumour you were dealing with and in rats there's often no point, since its expensive and we don't actually treat cancers when they happen (like chemo, etc for dogs).

The anesthetic is normal, its expensive stuff, and induction costs a lot at my vets as well, and then they charge you for each 10 mins of anesthetic used.

How much money can you get a hold of?

if you don't feel you have anywhere near the amount needed for the surgery, you will have to have her humanely pts before she suffers. I am very sorry. Rats can be very expensive and this can happen suddenly.

I never get the histopathology done. They are excellent at Lasalle, they are very experience with rat surgeries, if you can find the money, I'd get it done asap.

I agree with what has already been said.
No need for the histopathology, anesthesia is expensive but necessary ... there is no other safe option.
She needs surgery or to be pts
I also agree. I'm sorry - it's a tough, but unfortunately a necessary, decision. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I do, too. It really sucks, but without it, your girl is a goner. I'm so very sorry, but I doubt she can live long with her body parts hanging out of her orfices, nor do I think it doesn't hurt like h***. It's either putting her to sleep, or doing the surgery somehow. Try borrowing money, or something. I know it's difficult but hang on and try your hardest to scrape up what you can- we're on your side the whole time. :sad3:
