I am sorry Jenny. :sad3: The cagemate will realize that her friend isn't well, and they accept things better than us in the end.

My fingers are tightly crossed you get a good response to the Pred over the next few days. It sounds like you caught it early, so you have a good chance.

I hope so too!!!!

It just really sucks because I'm leaving for the Dominican for a week on Saturday..... That's a week less with her when she already has a shortened life *sigh*.

I will make the most of the time I have with her this week :)

She is adapting and although this doesn't mean an improvement in her overall health, it is an improvement in my books. I just sat with her for an hour(ish) and in that time she was able to gorge on a large blackberry and eat a bunch of pumpkin seeds. Her sister was also prancing around with her -- something I have not seen in a while.

I'm glad that they are happier tonight now that they are reunited after their day away from each other

I'm going to go and play with them again... I really hope that the meds work!!!

I'll try and post some good pics soon!

If the tumor is slow growing, the pred should help you and her sister have more good quality time with her.
Hope it is slow growing.
:hugs: to all 3 of you

:stickpoke: Sneak her in your bag.
haahahaha :D Don't tempt me!!!! I WOULD! I highly doubt that airport officials would be impressed...

How well do ratties fly anyway?

She seems to be doing ok today. I havent been home to see her yet tonight, but this morning she was a bubbly little one so I guess she is happy? She wouldnt take her meds this morning either! Silly little unit! I'll update when I get home tonight!!!

I got a really bad scare tonight! When I got home she was sleeping in her hammock but she wasn't moving o_O so I moved her and she was so lethargic and she had so much porphryn (sorry I cant spell that) around both of her eyes. I had NEVER seen her that way! I held her for a while and slowly she perked up. Turns out she must have been in a deep sleep. So i gave her her meds. She took the pred. like a champ, almost as if she knew that's what would help her the most. The other was a struggle, but in the end she allowed me to give it to her. Then she dragged her chin across the floor o_O. I think she was trying to get the meds off so she didn't have to lick it off? She is able to hold her head up now so I don't think that was the problem.

Now she is bouncing around the cage. She is super excited to get the "critical care" food that I got from the vets... she practically bit my finger off when I let her try a bit off my hand (it wasn't cool enough to give her the bowl). She is a trooper, but I really don't see much improvement. HOPEFULLY after a few more doses I will see something. Maybe by the time I leave for the Dominican?!?! I hope so... I wish wish wish I could take the poor girl with me but alas, I cannot. She will be in good hands with xxchelle.

For now hopefully she will be a happy little rattie. Her sister has stepped in more now, she lies with her in her hammock with her and plays nice with her (she still steals her fruit loop and yogurt drop if she finishes first though).

Here is a cutie of a pic :) This was on the weekend, She has too much red around her eyes to post one of her today.... Ill see how she is tomorrow! I still love this one!

This is so terrible! Her belly is distended and she is in obvious pain, but I don't know what I can do. She walks around with her front paws and her back ones don't move when she wants them to so sometimes she drags herself around with her front paws and clamors over things very clumsily.

Is there anything that I can do to help with the pain part? She is such a sweetie pie still. Today she sat near the door and just rested her head in my hand. She has NEVER done this ever before. She willingly takes the pred. but not the other, could it be the ab that is making her feel bad?

I have checked all the litter for out-of-the-ordinary poop and everything seems fine. I guess I just have to let this go until maybe the meds kick in...

She has had 3 doses, I should be more patient...

Just a quick update:

She is doing... well I guess she would be doing as expected. I have noticed a HUGE change even from when I got her home from xxchelle's yesterday (BIGGGG thanks to xxchelle for looking after her and her sister while I was away).
She has quite a prominent head tilt now and kinda runs in circles. LOTS of porphryn (sorry I cannot spell that word - I hope thats right) around her eyes and nose. I was going to post a pic, but decided I didn't want to, they are terrible looking pictures... She should be remembered the way that she is in the previous pics or her "glory days" lol :).
On a happy note! Although she would not eat anything last night or this morning she ate 1mL of cereal and ensure :D:D:D:D I saturated her with hugs kisses and scritches for that! Yesterday she was refusing the critical care - but today she plowed through that food like a champ...
Anyway, That is really all I have to post right now... I'm not sure how well the drugs are actually working, they may be slowing the process, but I still feel pretty bad for the little sweetie.
