Adam was humanely put to sleep by the vet this afternoon. He died peacefully in my arms.
He had kidney failure ... didn't want our sweet boy to suffer any longer .... he was feeling pretty awful.

Thank you all for your info. and comments

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I hope you are ok. I was with my baby, Jerry, when he was euthanized and I cried all night.

Sometimes the kindest acts can be so painful. :missu: :rose:

Yes ... Adam, Monroe and Noah were born July 8, 2005.
Monroe's kidneys are failing, just like his brother Adam.
So far he is doing good on his diet and meds but it is only a matter of time :( But it is good quality time and for that I am very grateful.
So far Noah is healthy ... tho he seems to have always had an enlarged heart, he has not yet showed signs of CHF.

Voldemort was the runt of that litter and he has always been healthy. However, he died from the most horrible way I can imagine. The boys were all on the table for play time when Voldemort started sneezing and coughing. I saw there was a few drops of blood on the table and soon, Voldemort seemed to be chocking and he was spiting blood all over the place every time he coughed. I quickly put the other boys in their respective cage only to watch Voldemort chock with his own blood. He was in total panick and so was I.

The whole horrible thing last about 15 minutes and Voldemort died in my arms. At least, he didn't suffer for very long.

It took me at least half an hour to clean the kitchen from all the blood that has been propulsed everywhere.

Voldemort gave me 13 wonderful babies and I will always keep a very good memory of him. I am glad that I own 2 of his sons and that I can see a third one on a regular basis.

Oh God... I would have had a heart attack!!! I am always an absolute mess when anything happens to my little guys. The last time Basil decided to try flying off the top of his rat skyscraper, with the assistance of the bedsheets, I spent 30 minutes poking and prodding his little body to make sure that there were no broken bones. I live 3 minutes from an Exotic Veterinary Center. If one of my boys had started doing what Voldemort did, I would have been out that door so fast my rat would have thought he was in a timewarp.

Your poor, precious, little gent. :tearful:

Godmother and I had Adam's  brother Monroe  pts by the vet yesterday. Monroe's  kidneys were failing and he was showing signs of pt. He was on meds but they were not helping enough and he no longer had a good quality of life. He died peacefully in my arms. Posting here for people who have his siblings or nephews ... will post in "gone but not forgotten" section soon.

The infamous "gang of 10" has one lone surviving member ... Noah  (the 3rd brother) is doing well despite having an enlarged heart. Have started to integrate him in with the younger group.

Damn those notoriously bad lines and bless the angels who come from then and pay for it.
If they could only always pay in loving arms....
The dichotomy between kids found in horrible circumstances and the loving worlds given by people here still floors me. Such a difference to a life for so little difference to ours.

Bless you Jo. Thru this place you take kids from hell on earth to heaven on earth.
