SO, I went to take out trash, And I heard something, Then I saw out of the corner of my eye, a 10g tank, with a momma and 6 babys.. The cage looks nasty,
I cannot take them to the vet til tommorow morning, Could I move them into my martin? ( It's a tank i could for medical ) I don't know how anyone could do this!
The momma is the sweetest thing, She looks pretty darn healthy.. This just makes me argh :wallbang:
Any help would be useful ( The babes looks maybe 5 weeks old )

Could you take some pictures of the babies? Maybe we could help you age them... if the babies are 5 weeks old already, the males will need to be separated from mom.

Wish I could a camera, But i do not.. I do see 1 male. I did separate them.

If you've separated the boy then I suppose try find some cages for them... if you scrub the tank now it might be okay for the male(s) until you can get them a better home. The martins cage should be fine... I think... don't get martins here.

Very fortunate little ratties.
A martins cage should be fine. Depending upon the type of martins, you may be able to divide it into two cages.
The babies would likely enjoy baby cereal mixed up with soy infant formula, ensure or water. (Dairy isn't good for rats.)
They would also like lab blocks, etc.
Baby rats are often not strong enough to get water out of water bottles even tho they look like they are so a water dish might be a good idea.

I hope you are able to borrow a camera, cell phone with a camera etc because we would love to see some pictures. :wink2:

Aww, that's so sad. I hope you can get a camera (even a webcam could take stills) to get pics of them. Do they seem to be in good health? Where are you located? They're so lucky you came along...

Aw, those babes and mom are so lucky you found them.
Try to find a camera and take some pics.
Do you have an extra cage for the boy?
Make sure to feed baby cereal mixed with ensure.

 Unbelieveable. I don't know how that person can hop into bed at night and sleep knowing they just dumped a living, breathing, feeling creature.
That little momma and her babies have no idea how lucky they really are.

So lucky for those sweet ratties that you found them and that you have a cage! I bet the mama has not been very well fed, so she would probably love a bit of scrambled egg to keep up her strength. Actually the babies would like it too, since they sound like they are probably weaned.

I don't know how anyone could throw animals out as if they were garbage. The only good thing is that they were not actually in the dumpster. Phyllis has found baby rats inside the dumpster.

Good luck with them!

OMG, whats the matter with people that they can't bother to get a ride to spca, or take a bus, or post the kids on Craigslist, or even phone the spca and have a volunteer get them..
Sick sick sick. That's who we should be experimenting on (not gentle healthy rats), lets find where lack of conscience comes from - cause it's become epidemic with people acting bad to get 15 minutes of fame, and mistresses courting the media rather than hiding in shame.
If you had time to scour youtube you might even find a self-made video of the creep 'abandoning pets at the dumpster'.

I'm in the states..They seem in very good health. I had to go and buy a decent cage for the boy. And i'm taking them to the vet in the morning.
They are so much fun to play with! And the momma isn't mean what so ever, And the babes aren't even afraid. I'm thinking about keeping all of them
If the health checks out, And if the boy is old enough i will get him fixed. I guess it's time to buy another CN, :joy:
I guess that makes it 14 rat's
