I am new to owning rats and never did I think I would ever own one let alone have 12. I need help with proper dosage for antibiotics. I have Doxysyrup 10mg/ml Doxycycline Hyclate which is what saved my little guy and then I ran out and he passed and I was heart broken and honeatly still am. He was my 1st ever rat and he chose me literally. The pet store gave him to me because he refused to get out of my hand. Since Nevaeh has passed I have not forgot about him. Yes he is the 1st ever male named Nevaeh. His name carried on too Male #2 Nevaeh Jr. And male #3 Heaven. Along with the other Ratatouille's.
They were all feeder rats and I refused to let them go as snake food so they are home with me. Every single one of them has had issues with the upper respiratory some worse than others and I need help with the proper dosing normally I would just go ahead and wing it as I did with Nevaeh, but I don't want to lose my babies. I am a certified vet tech just never did exotic persay at our clinic and I am horrible with math.
Please help because my little girl pixie is not doing very well today She weighs approximately 3.45 ozs

Sorry for late response. First, if they are in a tank, put them in a wire cage asap. Tanks are bad for respiratory system since not good airflow. Second, rats usually need to be on antibiotics for about 4-6 weeks, even if symptoms go away. A combo usually used for bad infections is enro, and doxy, or enro, and zithro. But usually enro is the best. Sometimes doxy works for not too bad of infection. Lilspaz is really a great person to ask this stuff to, so if need be, message her. With all this covid crap, she may take longer to respond. Until then, check out www.ratguide.com for health info. There's vets as medical contributors on there. Good luck! Hope your babies feel better!

Pixie is a baby? Only 98 grams.

I think we shouldnt chance losing another week one and use the big guns on her.

Doxy 10 mg/ml - 0.1 ml twice a day

200 mg enro, mix with 3 ml warm water til dissolved then add, and 5 ml of sweet syrup (this gives you 25 mg/ml Enro solution)
Her dose would be 0.06 ml twice a day.

What symptoms is she showing?
Your little man you lost may have been sick a long time and the doxy wasn't enough to save him. I'm so sorry.
