Hand raising babies

Is it possible... from day one???

Someone gave a guy a pregnant hairless female. She just died giving birth to the babies but they are still alive!!
I don't know, if i'd take them... is it possible to hand raise babies who were just born???

Gosh, why do people at pet stores don't separate by sex, especially on hairless does?

they need a foster mom and fast, but even then they might not make it since they are not getting mom's colostrum that is so necessary

No one breeds on this area except for me... and i only make about three litters a year, so there's no way they have a chance with me...
These babies won't last long then...

I actually saw a PEW with a litter at a pet store today. But it's almost 3am here. I don't believe they'll make it until the pet store is open in the morning...

You can hand feed them ... and get them a mom nursing a litter less then a week old asap

I would hand-feed them as well, until you can get that mom.

I would get in the car and go get them now, if the guy would just answer my messages... We're wasting precious time...

feed soy infant formula, make sure it doesn't go into lungs, wipe butts, etcetc

If no moms around, you can order colostrum

I have no ideia if it's possible to order that in Portugal... and problem is, at 3am, there's nothing open where i can get the formula!
Is there some home recipe i could make perhaps?...

You should probably keep this on hand for any future issues with your own rats. I have a can in my cupboard just in case.

Read the articles maybe they can give you an alternative for right now. Plus you need to know how to encourage the babies to eliminate. Do you have the babies with you now?

No, they're not mine Lilspazz, they're from a guy i know in a forum that lives near by and asked for my help

All five babies made it to my house. And i may be able to get them that petstore mom in the morning... but what should i feed them till then?

maybe warm water to keep them hydrated?

Yes, i'm doing that, warm water with salt and sugar, the hand made serum.
Most of them drank it pretty well, one of them didn't seem impressed.
I'm going to sleep now, it's 5 am and i have to sleep two hours before feeding them again.

Did you gently wipe their butts with a warm damp cloth or cotton ball to get them to eliminate?

I did, but i'm not sure something actually came out of it :S
