Late yesterday evening I discovered that godmother's Maddy was bleeding a great deal from her mouth, had little energy, and when she did move she was unable to walk and dragged herself on her belly.
Around 2 am I gave her a steriod (pred and I also added baytril) as the emergency vet on call suggested. By then Maddy's mouth had stopped bleeding.
This morning Maddy was able to walk but her walk wasn't quite right.
I took her along to the vets first thing this morning along with my Rachael who was going in for surgery.
They kept Maddy for observation, etc until midafternoon when I picked up both girls.
Maddy is now walking ok.
The only concern at this point is her black stool (likely due to all the blood she swallowed last night - I saw her doing this as her mouth kept filling up with blood).
So, I am to keep an eye on Maddy and her stool.
Maddy is continuing the baytril.
The vet thinks it may have been head trauma.
Godmother is concerned that it may be related to the onset of the early stages of a neurological condition such as pt .... that this may have caused her to fall in the cage and become hurt.
I have no idea what happened.
(I didn't come on here at the time for ideas as my computer died yesterday ... possible short circuit in the mother board. It is less then 2 yrs old so hopefully covered. Borrowed a computer to check email etc.)
